Powered by its factory-correct powertrain, this 1959 Chrysler 300E
convertible is equipped with two of the rarest options available
across the letter-series cars: Air Sweep, the oil- and belt-driven
rear air-ride system and Autopilot cruise control, making it one of
six convertibles produced with Air Sweep and the only known example
fitted with both options. After remaining in the same collection
since 1977 and receiving a no-expense-spared frame-off restoration
completed less than 100 miles ago, it underwent a comprehensive
inspection and service, including a rebuild of the entire brake
system, flushing of the fuel system, gas tank cleaning, replacement
of all four wheel bearings, installation of four new wide whitewall
tires, carburetor rebuild, coolant and radiator flush, hydraulic
top system service, window lubrication and installation of a new
battery. The car is restored in its original Chrysler Matador Red
exterior finish with a Gary Goers tan leather interior and retains
its factory-correct features, including swivel seats, remote
outside mirrors, seven-button AM radio, Mirror-Matic auto-dimming
rearview mirror and power steering, brakes and windows, reflecting
nearly every available Chrysler option for 1959. Having been
road-tested and reinspected after service, this 300E convertible is
presented as a well-mannered and reliable example restored to
exacting as-built specifications and offered to the public for the
first time since 1977.
