The final iteration of the 356, the C, was released for the 1964 model year (with production beginning in July 1963) and incorporated numerous updates (such as four-wheel disc brakes) as the company geared up for the release of the 911. The company dropped the old 60hp base motor, making the 74hp “Super” standard fitment. The SC, which added high-lift camshafts, larger valves, special exhaust ports, and much more, had a higher compression and produced 95hp. This was more than enough to offer such a lightweight vehicle sporty acceleration to match its impressively responsive handling. Naturally, the increased performance of the SC models cemented the cars in the hearts of enthusiasts and are highly desirable to this day.
The sensational 1965 Porsche 356 SC coupe featured here is finished in gorgeous Smyrna Green over Tan leather, a stunning combination that truly catches one’s eye. This exquisite motorcar was completed at Porsche’s Stuttgart factory in May 1964 and delivered to its first owner via the European delivery program. After touring Europe for several weeks, its new owner brought the car back to Washington DC where it remained until 2012, whereupon it was sold to its second owner. At some point afterwards, the 356 received a comprehensive, show-quality restoration including a complete engine rebuild to 1.7L by marque experts. Since then, the vehicle has been driven sparingly, only having been traded hands once more in recent years.
This investment-grade Porsche 356 SC is accompanied by its original owner’s manual, service booklet, engine rebuild receipts, and photographs documenting portions of its restoration. This numbers-matching high-performance SC is a perfect candidate for a world-class collection. We are proud to offer what we believe to be one of the very best 356 SC coupes on the market today to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the best!
