Motorcar Studio in partnership with JFrazar Motorcars is pleased to
offer this 1960 Porsche 356 B Roadster with coachwork by
Karosseriewerke Drauz-Heilbronn. This US-delivery Drauz Roadster
was imported through Max Hoffman; the factory Kardex confirms the
correct original color of Ruby Red, and that this car retains its
original, numbers-matching engine and transmission. Professionally
restored by noted Porsche specialist VMR in North Georgia in
2005-2006; it has remained under the care of the same Georgia owner
since. This 356 Roadster presents in to a concours standard inside
and out.
Most of the open-top 356B variants were Cabriolets - the Roadster
was essentially an evolution of the sought-after 356A Speedster and
the one-year-only 1959 Convertible D. It's a bit more user-friendly
than the Speedster thanks to roll-up windows and a taller (but
still removable) windscreen, but still features a sleeker look vs.
the Cabriolet. And of course the Grauz Roadster incorporates all of
the chassis improvements of the 365B - bigger brakes, revised
suspension, more comfortable interiors, etc.
The interior was fully restored to the same high standard as the
body; excellent carpets, seat upholstery, door panels, dash,
gauges, wood-rimmed steering wheel and convertible top. The
accessory luggage rack on the engine lid is attached through the
grille, so it can be easily removed (with no holes to fill). The
original, numbers-matching engine and transmission were also
rebuilt (along with a complete suspension refresh). The result is a
356 that runs and drives just as exquisitely as it looks. This
example has been carefully maintained since its restoration under
the watchful eye of the same owner for more than two decades - it
is very well sorted with no known needs.
