The Triumph TR4 instilled fun into the motoring experience. The
very nature of this Triumph's performance rendered it a perfect
British sports car - ideal for fun-and-games, or rallying. The
2138cc engine output 100hp and was able to push the TR4 to speeds
exceeding 100mph. A second generation, the TR4A, was upgraded with
features including independent rear suspension.
Low Mileage Professional Restoration-
This handsome 1965 Triumph TR4A has been professionally restored
(2010-12) to the highest of standards
(documentation/receipts/digital photos available). The owner states
that the odometer reading of just under 57,000 is actual. The body
was beautifully refinished in Sophia White (MOPAR color) and all
chrome has either been refinished or replaced with new. A sparkling
new set of chrome/stainless wire-wheels with knock-off hubs mount
fresh Vredestein radials. A new windshield has been installed and a
chrome luggage rack has been fitted. The interior was completely
restored and the Biscuit Tan leather upholstery is stunning.
Matching door panels, wool carpets and a new mahogany dash are all
excellent. The dash is fitted with reconditioned Jaeger/Lucas
gauges, there is a classic Triumph 'banjo' wheel and a RetroSound
AM/FM/Bluetooth sound system has been installed. The matching tan
fabric top is manually operated and a nice tonneau cover snaps
perfectly in place. Finally, the trunk has also been carefully
detailed and carpeted.
Rebuilt Original Drivetrain-
An immaculate engine compartment is home to the 2138cc OHV
4-cylinder engine. It has been totally rebuilt, but many internal
components are still original. (The owner states that the Triumph's
entire drivetrain is factory original.)
Work done on the engine includes:
• Clean-up cylinders
• Polish crankshaft,
• New crank/rod/cam bearings
• New rear main seal,
• Headwork - valves/guides/hardened seats
• Rebuild dual 175 Zenith/Stromberg carbs
• Refresh factory distributor
• Generator-to-alternator conversion
• High-torque starter
• Recondition original radiator/add stainless cowling
• Polished rocker cover
This powerplant sounds strong through a custom dual exhaust system.
There is virtually nothing else you need to do this motor - it is
right. The powerplant is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission
that has been completely rebuilt and a new clutch/pressure plate
have also been installed.
Upgraded RATCO Chassis-
The chassis has been upgraded to a RATCO unit with foam filled
cavities. It has been powder coated and new workings include
rack/pinion steering components, brake components, wiring harness
and fuse box. All front and rear suspension components/bushings
were replaced as needed. The differential was examined, and new
seals were installed.
This handsome TR4A roadster is virtually better than new and makes
the Triumph TR4A brand proud. It will not be here long - move
post-haste.
