"KR" – a name, a commitment
The "KR" in GT500KR refers to „King of the Road“ – and exactly that‘s what this car was in 1968.
Powered by a 7-litre-Cobra-Jet-V8 engine (428 cui) with 400HP at the time the 1968 GT500KR was the fastest and most luxury Mustang ever produced.
In 1968 Ford raised it´s sharing in the Shelby-program. By then, the Shelby cars have been built in the Ford assembly plant in San Jose and afterwards -- for completion -- have been shipped to the Shelby works in Venice, California.
From 1968 on, all Shelby cars have been built in the Ford plant in Metuchen, New Jersey, and then shipped to the Ford OEM A.O. Smith in Iona, Michigan to be completed.
The 1968 Shelbys were remarkably powerful and many collectors regard them to be built with the highest quality level of all Shelbys so far.
The Shelby GT500KR boosts the typical characteristics of the original Mustangs with improved power, handling, reliability, comfort and safety.
Under the bonnet – a 7 litre V8 big block, the famous 428 Cobra Jet with 400HP and a max. torque of almost 600Nm.
The driving experience is breathtaking. The 428 Cobra-Jet s tarts directly and it´s grumbling V8 creates goose skin feeling. The engine comes up with power just like that. On the road it gives you massive power – at low revs a bit rough and unfiltered, with rising revs more and more balanced – endless power in any situation.
The car is equipped with a manual 4-speed gearbox which operates excellent. Together with the enormous engine torque, superiority in any driving situation is assured.
From any angle, our Shelby is in outstanding condition – almost like new (… and in some respects, especially body and paint, better than …).
All gaps and plains are as they came out of the factory. Doors, the bonnet and the trunk lid open and close perfectly.
Paintwork, chrome and glazing, all of them on highest level - really outstanding.
In particular the paintwork of the Shelby is a work of art and can in no respect be compared with professional standard paintwork. The body is laser-straight with absolutely no waves, the paintwork is fully even and highly glossy with no „orange peel“ at all.
The underbody and the wheel houses present in perfect condition and painted according to works standard. Also the interior attracts with it´s excellent original condition. Door cards, seat covers, carpets, wooden applications and dashboard – all carefully used, cared for and well preserved.
Our Shelby GT 500 KR has been imported to Germany by a collector of US muscle cars in 2018. After a thorough maintenance and technical inspection as well as historic assessment by the German TÜV the Shelby has been registered in Germany in 2018.
Now the car is offered for sale on behalf the joint heirship of the deceased collector.

Furthermore, after a thorough inspection, a proved Shelby expert described this car to be highly original – among others with it´s correctly red painted underbody, correct engine paint, correct color of the power steering pump, leaf springs with correct markings and other markings as the have been applied in the Shelby works.
Also, the glass fiber body components (bonnet and trunk lid) have been described to be original and finished to high quality.
The car is ready to start and will be handed over with an up to date valuation.
