This 1978 Ford F100 Custom Short-Box pickup is an extremely nice 2
Owner truck with what we are told has 63,000 original miles. The
last owner purchased this truck from the original owner in 2008 who
purchased this truck new and did not drive it very often because he
had a company car. The last owner only drove this truck in the
summer after he did a frame-on restoration which took a couple of
years. He only put 2-3,000 miles on the truck since he did that
restoration. This is a really nice, original truck that drives
wonderful. The body on this truck is awesome with all of the
original metal. It is super clean and straight and solid. It was
professionally repainted in 2008. The truck was completely
disassembled for paint with new weatherstripping and seals
installed at that time. It was painted its original color of Dark
Brown Poly and the paint is excellent! The underside is super clean
with no rust issues ever. He painted the frame for cosmetic
appearance, but left the floors and rockers he left original
because for how nice they are. All of the chrome and trim appear
original except for the front bumper.
The interior is also in excellent condition. The seat was
reupholstered when restored, but the floor mat, door panels,
headliner, dash, and dash bezel are all original and in excellent
shape. It is easy to see the miles are original based on the
interior condition alone. The headlights, taillights, brakelights,
and turn signals are all working. The gauges all work. The heat
horn and windshield wipers are also working.
Mechanically this truck is excellent and it runs and drives
wonderful. The engine is the original 5.0L 302 V8 that is totally
stock and it starts easy and runs strong with no issues or red
flags that we found. He did add dual Flowmaster Exhaust that sounds
great and he had the Factory Carb rebuilt. Other maintenance
included a full tune-up, new valve cover gaskets, new oil pan
gasket, new water-pump, and aluminum radiator. The transmission is
the C6 Automatic that shifts excellent. The rear axle is a Dana 44
with 2.72 gears. This truck has power steering and power front disc
brakes. This is all sitting on a new set of steel wagon wheels with
Cooper Tires size 245/70/16.
