This 1981 Chevy C10 Short Bed is a classic squarebody with great
stance, great sound, and a ton of potential. It features a healthy
upgraded 350 V8, a TH350 automatic that shifts crisp and clean,
tasteful custom touches, and a structurally sound body that's ideal
for enjoying as-is or taking to the next level. With its custom
exhaust note, deleted door handles, and iconic short-bed profile,
this truck draws attention everywhere it goes.
Exterior
The truck presents well with shiny driver-quality paint that shows
typical small dents, scratches, and blemishes throughout. LED
lights are fitted front and rear. Both bumpers were custom done,
and the bed itself is nice, solid, and dry. There are some areas of
body blistering where rust may be present, but overall the sheet
metal is still quite solid for its age. Cab corners appear good,
body mounts are dry and solid, and the truck still stands straight
and true. A bit of TLC and refinement would go a long way in taking
this C10 to the next cosmetic level.
Interior
Inside, the truck retains a clean, straightforward classic-truck
layout highlighted by a B&M ratchet shifter mounted neatly on
the floor. Everything is functional aside from the driver's front
vent window, which will need attention. It's an honest interior
that can be enjoyed immediately while leaving room to upgrade to
taste.
Underhood & Body
Under the hood is a custom 350 V8 topped with a Street Demon
carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and headers. Power steering and power
brakes make it easy to drive. This setup is backed by a TH350
automatic transmission that pairs well with the engine and delivers
nice, crisp shifts through the B&M shifter. The underside is
structurally strong with only a couple of small areas around the
floor pans that show age. Frame rails, mounts, and cab structure
remain solid overall. It's a dependable base with the mechanical
upgrades already started.
Driving
This C10 fires right up, idles well, and makes strong power. The
TH350 transmission shifts nice and crisp, and the straight-pipe
exhaust gives it a deep, aggressive sound. It stops well and steers
well, and the upgraded transmission setup works perfectly with the
B&M ratchet shifter. Tail lights function properly, though we
could not get the headlights to operate during testing. As noted,
the truck benefits from some finishing touches, but it's
mechanically enjoyable today.
Conclusion
This 1981 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed is priced right and represents a
great opportunity to own one of the most desirable classic pickup
configurations out there. With its strong-running 350 V8,
crisp-shifting TH350 trans, solid bones, and iconic styling, it's a
perfect truck for someone looking for a fun driver that can easily
be taken to the next level with a bit of TLC.
