Description:
This 1983 Lotus Turbo Esprit remained under long-term ownership in
Nevada from 1996 to 2025 and was acquired by the current owner
later that year. Finished in Cherry Red over gray leather, the car
is powered by a turbocharged 2.2-liter inline-four paired with a
five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes twin Dell'Orto
carburetors, disc brakes, 15? BBS Mahle alloy wheels, pop-up
headlights, rear window louvers, an integrated rear spoiler, black
bumpers, a cabin heater, power windows, and a Clarion CD
stereo.
Interior:
The leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths
instrumentation consisting of a repaired 170-mph speedometer, a
tachometer, and gauges for boost pressure, voltage, oil pressure,
coolant temperature, and fuel level. The bucket seats are wrapped
in aftermarket seat covers. Appointments include a cabin heater, a
wood shift knob, power windows, and a Clarion CD stereo.
Exterior:
The Series III Esprit was the final variation of the
Giugiaro-penned design, and the Turbo model featured an aerodynamic
body kit used on the earlier Essex Turbo Esprit. This car is
finished in Cherry Red (A55) and features pop-up headlights, rear
window louvers, an integrated rear spoiler, and black-finished
wraparound bumpers. The 15? BBS Mahle basketweave alloy wheels are
mounted with Kumho Ecsta front and Dunlop G/T Qualifier rear
tires.
Drivetrain:
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual
transaxle. The mid-mounted turbocharged 2.2L inline-four was
factory rated at 205 horsepower and 194 lb-ft of torque and
features dual side-draft Dell'Orto carburetors.
