For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Terre Haute, Indiana

Vehicle Description

Offered for sale is my mostly original 1968 base model Camaro. This car has been somebody’s baby it’s entire life. The person I bought it from claimed to be the third owner.    It is originally a California car manufactured in Van Nuys and sold from a dealership in Thousand Oaks. I have the original owner’s manual and the protect-o-plate.

I say mostly original as there have been some what I consider to be period correct upgrades. The original cylinder heads were upgraded to the famous double hump fuelie heads, and the carburetor and intake have been upgraded to a Holley 650 four barrel.  The exhaust manifolds were removed and headers were installed. The exhaust was upgraded to dual exhaust. It was fitted with rally wheels and T/A radials.

It is a well-optioned car from the factory. It has the center console with the gauges, in dash tachometer with the clock, aka the “tick tock tach” and the clock still works!  Four speed transmission and the very rare fold down rear seat.  It has been repainted at least once, and the paint is holding up well. It is in the original Lemans Blue, according to the paint code. It also has the optional shoulder belts for the front seats. It is a factory A/C car which has been disconnected, though I do have the pump and the brackets.  All the body lines are straight, and I have not found any evidence of previous damage. If it was ever in a wreck, it was meticulously repaired.

Most important, I think, is that all the original parts that were removed for the upgrades were retained and I acquired them when I purchased the car. It would be relatively easy to restore this car to its original condition. I have the original wheels and hubcaps, exhaust manifolds, intake and two-barrel carburetor, and an entire exhaust system, just to name a few.

It will be difficult to find a car like this in original condition. The doors shut properly as does the hood. It has 54,xxx miles and I am inclined to believe this is original, though I have no solid evidence to support it. I have a copy of the California title which shows the odometer to read 43,387 on 11-10-2000.

I will be happy to answer any questions.
