Description:
This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 coupe was modified with the
installation of a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 and a Tremec six-speed manual
transmission approximately 20 years ago while under the care of an
owner in New Mexico. The car was repainted in silver and the
interior was redone in diamond-stitched red leather since mid-2024.
Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, Wilwood front disc
brakes, 15? wire wheels, a Griffin aluminum radiator, auxiliary
electric cooling fans, a manual throttle body, red fuel-rail
covers, tubular exhaust headers, a dual exhaust system, a louvered
clamshell hood, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Kenwood stereo, and
a ScanGauge vehicle monitor.
Interior:
The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a ScanGauge II digital
vehicle monitor. The seller states that the Smiths analog gauges
are inoperable. The cabin features bucket seats were reupholstered
in diamond-stitched red leather since 2024. The color-coordinated
center console, door panels, and carpeting also have been redone.
Other interior appointments include lap belts, a Kenwood CD stereo,
a heater, a locking glovebox, a passenger-side grab handle, a
windshield-mounted rearview mirror, and rocker switches for vehicle
functions.
Exterior:
Chrome-finished 15? wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted
with 205/70 Pirelli P400 red-line tires. Wilwood front disc brakes
are complemented by inboard-mounted rear rotors. Series 1.5 E-Types
featured exposed headlights shared with Series II cars but retained
Series I equipment such as a small grille opening, turn signals
positioned above the front bumper, and taillights situated above
the split rear bumper.
Drivetrain:
Power is directed to the rear wheels via a Tremec T56 six-speed
manual gearbox. The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 was installed in this car in
the early 2000s.
