Cruisin Classics is excited to present to you this stunning 1969
Plymouth Road Runner Spring Special (A14) two-door hardtop! This
Mopar has had only one owner since 1970, it boasts a mere 85,479
actual miles, it is still equipped just as the fender tag and
original broadcast sheet indicate, and it still retains its
original numbers-matching engine, transmission, and rear axle! The
exciting details don't stop there though, let's dig a little deeper
into this very special Road Runner...
This Plymouth comes to us dressed in a high-quality respray of its
original color - Silver Platinum (A4) with matte black stripes on
the Performance Hood (V21). The black stripes accentuate twin faux
hood vents with 383 badging that let you know what's hiding
beneath. Below the front of the hood are a horizontal grille
flanked by dual side-by-side headlights and a mirror-finish chrome
bumper. As you move around to the side of the car the White vinyl
top (V1W) comes into focus and it looks fabulous against the Silver
paint. The vinyl top is in excellent condition and it's framed by
bright window trim, drip rail molding (M21), and belt molding
(M31). Originally equipped with longitudinal white stripes (V6W),
this car now has the factory-optional thinner white accent stripes
that run from tip to tail about a quarter inch below the upper body
line and they look perfect with the white top above. The doors
feature "road runner" badging, colorful bird decals, chrome door
handles, and a bright drivers side mirror. The wheel and tire
combination are the perfect complement to this ride - steel Kelsey
Hayes Road Wheels (14X6) all wrapped in brand new Firestone Wide
Oval Redline tires. Around back at the rear you'll find a gleaming
bumper with integrated reverse lights, dual chrome exhaust tips,
and a "road runner" badge and bird decal on the decklid. Take a
quick peek under the car and find an impressively clean
undercarriage and a newer-looking exhaust system.
Lift the hood to reveal an immaculate engine bay with glossy Silver
paint. At the center sits the original numbers-matching 383ci V-8
dressed in a fresh coat of orange paint. The big block is topped
with orange valve covers, an orange intake, the original Carter AVS
4-barrel carburetor, and correct black air cleaner with "383 Road
Runner Engine" decal. The engine was recently treated to a tune-up
that included new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and
points - and it's running in tip-top shape. Also under the hood is
a brand new Vintage Air A/C compressor, original HP exhaust
manifolds, and a purple "Beep-Beep" horn. The big V-8 is mated up
to the original numbers-matching Chrysler New Process 4-speed
manual transmission that puts power to the pavement via the
original 8 " Chrysler rear axle with 3.23 Sure-Grip gears.
Steering is manual, suspension is stock, and brakes are manual
drums on all four corners, just the way it came from factory.
Open the drivers door and the dome light pops on to illuminate a
jaw-droppingly nice Pewter vinyl and Black interior (trim H2S). The
door panels look great with Pewter vinyl, bright trim, crank
windows, and an armrest. Both the front and rear bench seats wear
flawless Pewter vinyl and they're as comfortable as they are
good-looking. The carpet is high-quality black hook & loop and the
headliner is tight perforated black vinyl. While looking up you'll
see overhead shoulder safety restraints. Rising up from the center
of the front floor is a Hurst shifter with a brown shift ball and
black rubber boot. Directly ahead of the driver is a black OEM
3-spoke steering wheel with working horn ring and bird head badge
at the center. The black dash sports a brand new upper dash pad and
it houses working gauges for alt, gas, temp, and a 120mph
speedometer. The odometer reads 85,479 miles and the title confirms
those miles to be actual. Also on the dash are controls for the
working 2-speed wipers, a Chrysler solid state 2-watt AM radio, and
working heat & fan controls. Ahead of the passenger is a glovebox
with a flip-up door adorned with a "road runner" badge and bird
decal. Mounted beneath the center of the dash is a brand new
Vintage Air unit that looks great and pumps out ice-cold air with a
strong fan on demand. Back in the trunk you'll find a plaid vinyl
mat and a full-size spare tire. This exceptional Road Runner also
comes with a color copy of the title from 1970, an original
broadcast sheet (in great condition), an original owners manual,
and a stack of receipts for some of the work done over the
years.
If you're looking for a very correct Road Runner that stands apart
from the others, this is your car! It's a Spring Special with a
great color combo, numbers-matching 383 engine and 4-speed
drivetrain, new Vintage Air, low actual miles, and an original
broadcast sheet - what more could you ask for! Road Runners this
nice are few and far between, so don't delay, give our staff a call
today and make this beauty your own before someone else does!
