"This bike has very good power and outstanding handling. It is a
true sportsbike and is designed to be driven that way. You do not
have to speed to enjoy this bike. The handling and rock solid
stability make riding it at any speed a joy. All in all, if you
want a true sportbike that is different from your typical cookie
cutter sportbike, and gets admired, and is a joy to ride, then get
this bike." Testimonial from an owner on Motorcycle.com
For consignment, a 2007 Ducati 800 Supersport Desmodue motorcycle
with a title verified 2 miles. Yes, two miles! This preserved and
pristine example has been touted as an improved version of the
legendary 1992 900SS.
Exterior
The dramatic and race inspired fairing takes center stage on this
machine, bright red, and flowing rearward to cover most of the
engine embedded within the tubular red frame. The curved windscreen
rides the same angle as the top of the high gas tank, giving the
bike a look of movement even when parked. The black vinyl seat has
a matching pad on the gas tank to support the torso forward seating
position and the saddle itself is based in wide, red bodywork. The
only mod to the bike, the Termignoni carbon fiber mufflers, get
your attention on each side and artfully follow the lines of the
bodywork, pointing upward. Other than some dust on the 17-inch
Brembo wheels, there's nothing to report in terms of imperfections
on this showroom fresh Ducati.
Functionality
Grips and thumb controls on each side are uniformly black with a
single red button on the right. A tachometer and speedometer are
presented as white faced dials in front of you, with digital
readouts in each and warning light arranged like pool balls on top
of the panel. Front and rear lighting include marker lights and
amber side reflectors are affixed to the front, red fender. Foot
pegs are uncoated and constructed of textured metal.
Drivetrain
With the frame is a factory fresh 803cc V-twin producing 77
horsepower, fuel injected and tied to a 6-speed manual transmission
sending power to the rear wheel via chain drive. Disc brakes are
front and rear with Brembos employed in the front. Suspension
consists of an inverted Marzocchi fork in front and a Sage Boge
adjustable shock mounted behind the engine and presented in showy
yellow paint.
This is a unique opportunity to purchase an essentially new Ducati
SS. Obviously, this is collector grade quality and even if you put
a few miles on this deserving machine, it would likely retain its
collectible status, especially if you mind its power and
capabilities!
