As bold as it is meticulously built, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS
Resto Mod delivers huge power, modern drivability, and unmistakable
first-gen Camaro style. At the heart of the build is a big-block
454 V8, styled and badged as a 572, built off a 14015445 Gen IV
block and topped with high-performance Brodix Aluminum Race Rite
heads. A high-rise intake feeds a Quick Fuel S0950 carburetor,
regulated by a Fuel Lab fuel system, giving this drivetrain the
airflow and fuel delivery needed to produce serious street power.
The engine bay is finished with an HEI ignition, serpentine belt
system, Power Grip hose fittings, and a BeCool radiator with dual
fans, all working together to keep temperatures stable even under
hard use.
Backing the big block is a 5-speed Super Street transmission with
overdrive, making this Camaro powerful yet surprisingly
road-friendly. Out back, a built 10-bolt rear with 3.90 posi gears,
a ladder bar setup, C-clip eliminator, and a G2 differential cover
puts the power down reliably. Weld-in subframe connectors tie the
car together structurally, while QA1 coilovers at all four corners,
tubular A-arms, rack & pinion power steering, and 4-wheel disc
brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors create a modern,
confident driving experience far beyond what the original platform
ever offered. Exhaust flows through 2 1/8 Hooker Super Comp headers
into stainless Flowmaster mufflers for an aggressive, unmistakable
big-block sound.
Finished in striking Marina Blue, the exterior retains classic '68
Camaro proportions but features desirable upgrades such as electric
RS hideaway headlights and a cowl hood. The deluxe blue vinyl
bucket seat interior with console presents beautifully and has been
enhanced with thoughtful modern touches. A retro-style AM/FM/AUX
radio, Auto Meter console gauges with red backlighting, a long
chrome shifter, and a custom rear interior deck panel with dual
speakers give the cabin the perfect blend of vintage and
performance styling.
Staggered Billet Specialties wheels complete the look, running
215/40ZR18 tires up front and wider 245/40ZR20 tires in the rear,
giving the car a strong, planted stance that matches its
performance. An Optima Yellow Top AGM battery ensures reliable
starting and power delivery for the upgraded electrical
components.
Please note that the Rally Sport package was added, and while the
car is powered by a built 454, it has been styled to resemble a
572-a common and visually impressive choice among big-block Camaro
builds. The car shows great overall, presenting as a powerful,
well-sorted, professionally built Resto Mod that delivers modern
performance wrapped in iconic 1968 Camaro style.
