While the Chevelle name has been long gone from Chevy's showroom
for decades, its legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of muscle
car enthusiasts everywhere. One look at this 1972 Chevrolet
Chevelle LS3 Restomod, and it's easy to see why this car has been
so lusted after. Fully repainted in a beautiful and head-turning
Viper Yellow, complete with ghost flames, this Chevelle has just
24,675 miles on it since it was rebuilt. Shaved door handles, an
aggressive cowl hood, and polished chrome wheels showcase this
car's classic lines while not-so-subtly hinting at its modern
technology.
Inside, we find an incredibly inviting and fully custom interior. A
lockable center console features power window switches and
separates a pair of plush, supportive power bucket seats. A
chrome-and-padded, power-assisted Billet Specialties wheel sits
ahead of a set of custom white-faced Dolphin gauges featuring an
8,000-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer. A quadruplet of
auxiliary gauges sits mid-dash, leaving plenty of negative space to
appreciate the body-color dashboard paint. A Vintage Air HVAC setup
provides welcomed AC for the summer months, while an Eclipse ESN
AM/FM/CD head unit offers far more entertainment options than the
unit it replaces.
Under that expansive hood, we find a late-model 6.2-liter overhead
valve LS3 V-8 engine. With a lightweight aluminum block and heads,
sequential-port fuel injection, a composite intake manifold, and
high-flow injectors, this Gen IV small-block is capable of
producing at least 426 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.
That output is funneled through a 4L60E four-speed automatic
transmission before heading out to the 3.70-geared rear end that
transfers power to the pavement via a set of big 18-inch Intro
wheels shod in 275/40R-18 low-profile rubber. At the same time, a
narrower set of 235/40R-18 Toyo tires handles steering duties up
front.
