One of just 25 factory equipped Rudge wheel Roadsters, this 1958
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is among the rarest and most desirable
examples of the model. Delivered new to legendary actress Natalie
Wood, it carries exceptional Hollywood provenance matched by
concours level quality.
Professionally restored in 2000 by renowned 300 SL specialist Rudi
Koniczek, the car presents in a stunning shade of Silver Blue (353
G) over Red leather, complemented by its original Rudge wheels,
European headlights, dark blue soft top, and period correct Becker
radio. Mechanical authenticity was paramount in the restoration,
down to correct clamps, finishes, and materials.
This Roadster has been recognized at the highest levels of the
collector world, including Best in Class at the 2012 Amelia Island
Concours d'Elegance, and was showcased by Mercedes-Benz U.S.A. in
the SL@Hollywood exhibition celebrating the SL lineage. It also
completed the Colorado Grand with ease, demonstrating its
reliability as a grand touring machine.
Powered by the 2,996cc overhead cam inline six producing 215 bhp
(DIN) / 240 hp (SAE), with a four-speed manual transmission and
signature SL engineering including coil spring suspension and servo
assisted drum brakes.
Beautifully finished, expertly restored, and historically
significant, this factory-Rudge, Natalie Wood owned 300 SL Roadster
stands as one of the most desirable and well-documented examples
available.
