1977 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van For Sale
This 1977 Volkswagen Type II Westfalia Camper brings together the
charm of the classic VW Bus with the practicality of a factory
Westfalia-Werke camper conversion. Powered by its 1.8L air-cooled
flat-four with dual carburetors and paired to a 4-speed manual
transmission, it delivers the honest, simple driving experience
these vans are known for. The braking system consists of front
discs and rear drums, consistent with late-'70s VW setup.
This Westfalia conversion includes the signature pop-up roof that
creates standing room inside and houses an upper bunk above the
kitchenette. The main cabin features the fold-down rear bench that
sleeps two, plus integrated storage and cabinets throughout. The
kitchenette area includes counter space, storage, and provisions
for period-correct camping equipment, giving the van the classic
layout that made Westfalias so sought-after.
This example has been well-maintained with documented recent work.
In 2021 it received a new canvas pop-top, a dual-carburetor kit,
new fuel pump, regulator, fuel lines, vent hose, throttle cable,
and front shocks. The engine timing and belt clearances were also
adjusted at that time. More recent 2024 maintenance includes a new
oil filler neck gasket, valve cover gasket, new TaylorMade spark
plug wires and spark plugs, and an upgraded electronic-pickup
distributor.
A clean, useable Westy with its key mechanicals and camping
features up to date, this 1977 Type II is ready for weekend trips,
shows, or simply enjoying the vintage VW experience.
