We are pleased to offer this amazing 1961 American Rambler wagon
street rod for sale. This custom beach cruiser is absolutely
amazing inside and out. The attention to detail is incredible and
is everywhere you look. Let's start with the exterior. This
restomod wagon was soda blasted and has been painted in a beautiful
dark brown metallic on the bottom and burnt orange metallic on the
roof using Matrix paint. It is broken up by a custom pinstripe with
some faux wood on the quarter panels. American Racing aluminum
alloy wheels give this car a touch of modern styling and are
wrapped in radial tires for a great ride. Inside, you are greeted
by heated bucket seats, a custom center console with floor shifter,
tilt steering column, woodgrain steering wheel and a Clarion
AM/FM/CD player. Custom door panels have the Rambler logo raised
for a neat and classy touch. The front and rear seats have seat
belts to keep you and your passengers safe, and the Optima Yellow
Top battery is in the rear section with a cool custom wooden trunk
to cover it. The trim on the inside is all painted in a faux wood
finish and then satin clear coated, which not only looks cool but
gives the interior a beachy woody wagon feel. The AMC 343 CID V8
engine is built and show quality in appearance. The engine and
transmission have been completely rebuilt and the block, heads and
oil pan are painted in a beautiful bronze metallic that looks great
in the engine compartment and underneath the car. The valve covers
have been given the faux wood treatment as well, and it is sure to
draw stares at any car show you attend. The air cleaner is custom
with a wood background with Mr. Horsepower and some custom
pinstriping. The air cleaner nut is a piece of cork with the nut
inside. Like I said, there are neat details everywhere you look in
this beach cruiser. The Rambler logo is painted on the smoothed
firewall with a pearl and is emblazoned on the radiator cap as
well. A chrome alternator, chrome A/C compressor, aluminum radiator
with electric fan and billet overflow all help bring this engine
compartment to a show quality level. Let's dig into the mechanical
aspects of this beauty next. The American 343 engine is built with
an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake and Edelbrock 500 CFM 4-barrel
carburetor. The exhaust is a dual setup with ceramic coated
manifolds running to glass packs for a nice muscle car rumble. It
is mated to an AMC automatic transmission and ends up out back at a
Ford 9" rear end with cruiser friendly 2.50 gears. Four-wheel disc
brakes provide plenty of stopping power and a Mustang II style
front end with rack and pinion steering makes for a nice ride. This
Rambler completed the Hot Rod Power Tour and has the "Long Hauler"
sticker on the back to prove it. It was built to be driven and
enjoyed and is sure to put a smile on your face. This AMC Rambler
wagon has won numerous awards including the 2014 AMO Gold Award.
The car was driven from Florida to South Carolina, awarded Gold and
then driven home. In 2015 this car was driven from Florida to the
Cruisin' the Coast in Biloxi Mississippi and back! This Rambler was
featured in the 2015 Matrix Paint calendar as well. The last detail
we'd like to tell you about is the fuel tank. The fuel tank is
custom painted to look like it is wood, and you can just catch a
glimpse of it from behind the car. If you're looking for a one of a
kind wagon that is ready to cruise and enjoy, give this Rambler a
good long look.
