1968 AMC AMX For Sale
1968 AMC AMX, powered by its 343ci V8 paired to a Borg-Warner M11
automatic transmission. The car retains its original red paint with
white stripes - a striking combination that highlights the AMX's
short-wheelbase, performance-oriented design.
This example is equipped with the AMC Go Package, which added power
front disc brakes, a Twin-Grip limited-slip differential, and a
3.15 rear axle ratio. Under the hood, the 343 breathes through an
Edelbrock carburetor and benefits from a Mallory breakerless
ignition and a heavy-duty radiator with a 7-blade fan for improved
cooling. The exhaust system has been replaced from the manifolds
back, featuring an OEM-style dual setup with turbo mufflers that
preserve the car's classic muscle tone.
Recent maintenance includes a fresh oil change, transmission fluid
flush and refill, rebuilt power steering pump, and restored gauge
cluster and instrument panel. Additional updates include new rear
springs and bushings, a new fuel tank with straps, sending unit,
and lines, and a Clay Smith pressure gauge for accurate
monitoring.
The AMX rides on Cragar S/S wheels - 14-inch fronts wrapped in
215/70 tires and 15-inch rears with 215/65 rubber - all measuring
10/32" tread depth.
Believed to have had only three owners, the current owner has had
it for a year and is parting with it simply due to having too many
cars. This AMX presents as an honest, well-preserved American
performance classic, with tasteful period upgrades and careful
upkeep that make it a strong driver example of AMC's two-seat
muscle car.
