This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS has been authenticated by Jerry
MacNeish. It is powered by a period-correct, date-coded Cross-Ram
302 DZ V8 engine mated to an M21 Muncie 4-speed manual
transmission. The power is delivered through a correct 12-bolt rear
end with 3.73-gear posi-traction. The exterior was professionally
refinished in its factory-correct Hugger Orange paint with black
Rally stripes and a black vinyl top. The interior has been
completely restored and features white upholstery with black
houndstooth inserts, consistent with the original factory
specification. It rides on 15-inch Rally wheels with trim rings and
center caps wrapped in BFGoodrich P235/60R15 Radial T/A tires.
Built in September 1968, this is an early car with VIN 00492, prior
to the use of X-codes on cowl data plates, which began in late
December 1968 and January 1969. The car spent the majority of its
life in Arizona. Factory-ordered options include heavy-duty
suspension, chambered exhaust, floor-mounted shifter with console
and gauges, power front disc brakes, heavy-duty radiator,
functional ducted Cross-Ram hood, power steering, Rally Sport
Package, radio delete, exterior moldings and Interior Decor Group,
and shoulder-harness deluxe seat belts. This Z/28 has been under
the same ownership for the past 20 years and has only a few
shakedown miles since its professional, full restoration completed
with meticulous attention to factory-correct detail.
