This 1969 Shelby GT500 fastback, Serial No. 0885, is a heavily
documented survivor car retaining its original matching-numbers
drivetrain. It is one of 1,157 built for the model year. Under the
hood, this GT500 retains its original 428 Cobra Jet V8 engine. The
cylinder heads, intake manifold, carburetor, Ram Air cleaner, smog
system, distributor and exhaust manifolds are believed to be
factory-installed components. Power is transferred through the
original matching-numbers 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission
to the original 3.50:1 Traction-Lok rear differential. The
undercarriage remains unrestored and authentic, with factory
finishes intact. This rust-free, Colorado-based GT500 presents
largely original paint with gold GT500 side stripes, believed to be
mostly original paint, with excellent body panel fitment and gap
alignment. All Carlite-stamped glass is original, and the interior
is also original and well-preserved, including the bucket seats,
door panels, dash, carpet and trim. The trunk compartment remains
unrestored with its original mat, spare tire and tools. Built on
February 7, 1969, this GT500 was ordered with a Candy Apple Red
exterior and black Clarion knit/Corinthian vinyl high-back bucket
seats. Factory options include the 4-speed close-ratio manual
transmission, 3.50:1 Traction-Lok differential, tachometer and trip
odometer, Goodyear tires, sport deck rear seat, deluxe seat belts
with warning light, power steering, power front disc brakes and AM
radio. Per the SAAC Shelby Registry, the car was initially shipped
to Courtesy Ford in Littleton, CO. The first identified owner was
Charles H. Fowler of Longmont, CO. The car retains its original
Ford VIN Tag, Door Data Plate Tag, Shelby Tag and dealer branding
script. Documentation includes the original Shelby invoice to
Courtesy Ford Motors Inc. (No. 2424), Shelby Order Sheet (No.
2966), Shelby Build Order Sheet, SAAC Registry entry, dealership
documentation, original Ford to Shelby Automotive Order Sheet,
Shelby Automotive to Ford Order Sheet, original Ford Build Sheet,
Courtesy Ford Shelby Automotive 10-day report and a Deluxe Marti
Report. It also includes a framed Deluxe Marti print, original
owner's manual with VIN verification, and Courtesy Ford 10-day and
shipping sequence reports. This GT500 has recently been serviced
and detailed. 72,873 miles (title reads exempt).
