This custom 1969 Chevrolet Camaro known as "Southern Comfort" was
built with extensive custom metalwork and Detroit Speed chassis
components. Originally assembled at the Norwood, OH, plant during
the third week of October as an X44-code Camaro, it was reimagined
during a two-year build completed in 2022. Power is provided by a
BluePrint LS3 rated at 543hp and 511 ft/lbs of torque, managed by a
Holley Dominator EFI system and paired with a GM 6L80E automatic
transmission featuring a push-button selector, Boss Hog 2800 stall
converter, PST aluminum driveshaft and Detroit Speed Fab 9-inch Tru
Trac rear end with Moser axles and 3.70 gears. The engine features
a body-color Edelbrock Cross-Ram intake, dual intake tubes with
K&N filters, Wegner accessories, Powermaster alternator,
C&R aluminum radiator, dual Spal fans and custom stainless mesh
panels. The exhaust system consists of 3-inch mandrel-bent
TIG-welded X-pipe tubing with American Racing headers and Summit
mufflers exiting through the rear valance. Body modifications
include smoothed drip rails, shaved handles, smoothed pinch welds,
integrated rear-quarter door pockets, deleted factory louvers with
recessed mesh panels, blended rockers and a formed decklid/quarter
extension. Additional exterior features include RS hideaway
headlights with a Detroit Speed electric kit, cowl hood with billet
locks, custom metal front spoiler, Auto City tinted glass, polished
stainless trim, Raingear/Detroit Speed wiper system, sport mirrors,
electric door poppers, ACP halo headlights, Marquez parking lights,
Dakota Digital taillights, smoothed front bumper and a tucked rear
bumper. Finished in Toyota Sunset Bronze, the car rides on Schott
SL65 polished forged wheels measuring 19x9 inches in front and
20x12 inches in back with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, size
255/30ZR19 and 335/25ZR20. The interior by Southern Comfort
Interiors includes a fully insulated cabin, Detroit Speed dash
insert, custom panels, headliner, console, package tray and bucket
seats upholstered in Creme Br�lee leather with brown accents and
diamond inserts. Interior equipment includes AutoMeter Sport Comp
II gauges, Guard Dog push-button start, Vintage Air controls,
custom vents, Flaming River painted tilt column, Billet Specialties
Formula steering wheel, power seats, Electric Life windows, Clayton
pedals, tan weave carpet and a trunk finished to match with Optima
Red Top battery, NOCO charger, hidden release, Electric Wizard
disconnect and Billet Specialties hinges. The suspension consists
of a Detroit Speed front subframe, Detroit Speed rear four-link,
full-frame tie-in, JRI shocks and a Rick's Stainless 18-gallon fuel
tank, with power rack & pinion steering. Braking is provided by an
ABS polished master cylinder, Wilwood proportioning valve, Wilwood
14-inch drilled and slotted rotors, Wilwood black calipers, Fragola
stainless lines and an E-Stopp electronic parking brake.
