For Sale at Auction: 1959 Chevrolet Corvette in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Nicknamed "A Clockwork Orange," this custom 1959 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by a big-block 540ci V8 engine built by Craiger Race Engines of Clymer, NY, and is topped with a polished TBS 8-71 Roots-style supercharger fed by dual Quick Fuel Technology carburetors and crowned with a period-inspired Enderle-style Streetcatcher scoop mated to a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission with a high-stall converter, feeding a narrowed Ford 9-inch rear end fitted with a limited-slip differential and heavy-duty axles. Airflow is managed through AFR aluminum cylinder heads, while ignition is delivered by an MSD Pro-Billet distributor paired with a high-output coil. Supporting components include an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, braided fuel lines and a polished serpentine system. It is equipped with ceramic-coated headers and exhaust, has four-wheel disc brakes and rides on polished 15-inch Crager Super Sport wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Sportsman SR tires, 30x12R15 in the rear and 26x6R15 up front. This setup gives the Corvette a Pro-Street attitude while maintaining street-capable manners. Inside, the cabin maintains a race-ready atmosphere blended with custom show-car refinement. Low-back bucket seats are trimmed in black leather, complemented by matching door panels, carpeting and a padded dash. The cockpit features a full roll cage with removable door bars and a G-Force five-point cam-lock harness system for the driver. A TCI Outlaw shifter anchors the center console, accompanied by an aluminum switch panel and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and fuel pressure mounted beside the driver for easy monitoring. A quick-release leather-wrapped steering wheel faces Dakota Digital instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and 8,000-rpm tachometer within a carbon-look cluster. Sporting a two-tone finish in Brilliant Burnt Copper with gray coves, this Corvette is equipped with an exhaust managed control switch to take exhaust through the mufflers or straight pipes, and has a removable body-color hardtop and a custom Lexan hood window.
