This 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS custom convertible is powered by its
matching-numbers 396ci big-block engine, which has been rebuilt,
resealed and fitted with new freeze plugs. The engine features
FiTech programmable fuel injection, Comp Cams roller rockers and
280H hydraulic flat tappet camshafts. Power is transferred through
a rebuilt transmission to a Tru Trac rear end with 3.42 gears.
Additional performance upgrades include a modified radiator with an
electric fan, Cerakoted exhaust manifolds with MagnaFlow mufflers
and electric exhaust cutouts operated by a switch under the dash.
It also has a stainless-steel fuel tank with a new sending unit.
Stopping power comes from Baer four-wheel disc brakes, and the
suspension has been rebuilt with 2-inch drop spindles and rear
compression air bags. Finished in new black paint with a new
convertible top, this Impala features a reupholstered black
bucket-seat interior and a new vintage-style radio. It retains
factory power windows and a power seat, along with a matching
Raceline steering wheel and wheels. Additional features include a
hood blanket and hinges, a relocated battery in the trunk with a
cutoff switch behind the license plate, and new starter, water, oil
and power steering pumps, as well as a new alternator and
windshield washer tank. A binder of service records and receipts is
included. It has been driven less than 1,200 miles since the
restoration. 91,455 miles (title reads exempt).
