Under the Dakota Digital electric-powered hood of this 1966
Chevrolet Corvette custom convertible built by Burning River
Resto-Mods in Berea, OH, is a GM LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine producing
a factory-rated 450hp, paired with a GM 4L65E 4-speed automatic
transmission. The perfect accent and sound of the side-pipe exhaust
completes the package. This convertible was stripped down and
catapulted to the 20th century by mating the original body to a
powder-coated and detailed Coffman Corvette chassis, Dana 44 rear
end, and a C6 and C7 suspension with Ridetech adjustable coilovers.
It features rack & pinion power steering and Z06 Corvette brakes.
The stripped body was massaged, and the gaps were tightened and
aligned. The firewall and inner fenders were all smoothed and
finished, as was the underside of the hood. The underbody was
coated with Raptor Liner to add strength and detail, and the
interior was then sprayed with LizardSkin ceramic coating to deaden
sound and beef up the original fiberglass durability. Then gloss
black paint was applied to the body and finished off with the Viper
Red accents to the custom Stinger hood, then sealed in clear to
give the body the depth and shine worthy of any show. Not seen very
often is the addition of Resto Mod Tech custom HID headlights,
giving this car the classic look of hideaway headlights, but when
turned on, only lower the front lower portion of the bucket to
reveal super-bright HIDs. The headlights give this car a sinister
look, without the typical buckets sticking up, taking away from the
Corvette's natural front-flowing lines. This build rides on custom
Diamond Back red line tires mounted to chrome 18-inch Corvette
wheels. There was absolutely no expense spared in this custom
build, with all chrome and stainless either polished to show
standards or replaced with new. The glass was replaced with soft
tint, along with a black Stayfast convertible top, to protect the
custom red leather interior. The interior includes a
leather-stitched dash and custom console, as well as
custom-stitched red leather door panels. The amenities include a
Vintage Air system, power windows, Dakota Digital carbon-fiber
gauges, American Autowire body harness, Rockford Fosgate stereo
with Bluetooth, Flaming River tilt steering column and a
classic-looking C2-style wood steering wheel to give this modern
interior a touch of original class.
