This 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 was entered into the Preservation
category of the 2023 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge by
Porsche Louisville. It is powered by an air-cooled flat-6 "Mezger"
engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Originally sold
to a close friend of Dealer Principal Jim Haynes, it marked that
owner's first Porsche and began a long personal history with the
brand that included several subsequent models. The 964 generation,
first introduced in 1988 for the 1989 model year, represented a
modernized evolution of the 911, enhancing both comfort and
performance while retaining the traditional rear-engine layout and
unmistakable character of its predecessors. Retaining its
originality, this example carries strong ties to Porsche Louisville
and to the personal history of one of the dealership's closest
connections, while exemplifying the qualities that have made the
964 increasingly sought-after among collectors and enthusiasts.
Documented receipts totaling $186,907 from Blue Grass Automotive on
work performed are included with the sale.
