This 1949 Chevrolet 3100 custom pickup is powered by a Cadillac
Northstar V8 engine mounted midship and paired with a matching
transaxle in a rear-wheel-drive configuration. The chassis combines
an S10 front section extending to the rear of the cab with a custom
tube chassis joined to a Cadillac K-member to support the
transverse engine and transaxle. Cooling is handled by dual
radiators and an auxiliary engine oil cooler with an electric fan.
Suspension consists of front coil springs with shocks and rear
MacPherson struts, with braking provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
It rides on Nitto NT555 255/45ZR17 tires mounted on REV 5-spoke
wheels with a 5x4.75 bolt pattern. The truck shows 1,337 miles
since the build, and all major systems are stated to be
operational. Exterior modifications include subtle changes to the
front clip, with the grille reconfigured to four bars instead of
the original five, and the left and right fenders shortened and
reshaped for a proportional reduction to match the grille.
Additional exterior features include custom-made running boards, a
finished front trunk area under the hood (frunk) accented by a 1929
Cadillac hood ornament, a custom metal sun visor, modern door latch
assemblies with show prop rods that hold the doors open
approximately 12 inches, and a cold-air intake located on the
driver's bedside ahead of the rear fender. The truck is finished in
Dupont/Axalta Midnight Black with two color coats and five
clearcoats, complemented by new chrome throughout. The interior
features leather seats and a center console with a 4-speed shifter,
power outlet and cup holders, along with all-new glass, AutoMeter
calibrated electronic gauges, a Kenwood CD stereo with USB
compatibility, power brakes, power steering, electric windshield
wipers, a full glove box, heater, keyless entry and courtesy lights
integrated into the rearview mirror and the upper rear of the cab.
The air-conditioning system is provisioned with wiring in place but
is not currently connected. At the rear, a custom bumper and lower
valance frame dual exhaust outlets. A two-piece hard-shell tonneau
cover includes a front section that opens on gas shocks to access
the engine bay and a rear section that houses the battery, computer
and electronics in a sealed compartment with an external master
power cutoff, as well as storage for the spare tire, jack and fuel
tank access. The exhaust system is a custom dual setup with an
X-pipe, turbo mufflers and chrome tips.
