This custom 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 began as a one-family-owned original 400 car that underwent a no-expense-spared, full custom build while maintaining primarily stock body lines. Power comes from a professionally built 400ci V8 engine bored and stroked to 468ci by Ed Nereaux Racing Engines. The engine was built to 500hp specs and features forged internals, hardened components, a solid high-performance cam and an EFI throttle-body fuel injection system. The new Edelbrock aluminum heads are built to high-performance specs, including roller rockers by SD Performance (Super Duty Performance) in Chilliwack, BC, Canada. The engine is paired with a TCI 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with a shift kit. It features a serpentine front accessories drive, Be Cool heavy-duty aluminum radiator with dual electric puller fans and MSD 6A ignition. The body was refinished in a custom Wineberry Pearl Metallic basecoat/clearcoat finish that shows beautifully, with a 2-inch rear tub extension incorporated into the metalwork. Suspension upgrades include a TCI independent front suspension with 2-inch drop spindles, rack & pinion steering, coilovers and a heavy-duty 1-inch sway bar. The rear features a TCI torque-arm 4-link setup with billet coilovers, TCI sway bar, subframe connectors and a 9-inch Truetrac posi-traction rear end. Braking is handled by Wilwood 4-piston power disc brakes with drilled and slotted 12-inch rotors and Dynalite calipers at all four corners. Exhaust gases flow through ceramic-coated headers and a custom stainless exhaust system. The custom interior features leather upholstery, a TCI Outlaw shifter, Autometer gauge package, Vintage Air heating and cooling, tilt steering column and new carpeting. The car rides on custom Schott polished aluminum wheels measuring 18x8 inches in the front and 18x9 inches in the rear, wrapped in Nitto Extreme radials, size 235/40 and 255/45. This Firebird represents an exceptional, professionally executed build using high-quality components throughout, offering modern performance and comfort in a timeless classic design. The car has only 529 shakedown miles since completion and is accompanied by build receipts, including engine build documentation.
