This 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser convertible pace car was
restored to concours condition in 2000. It is factory-equipped with
front and rear Mercury-only deluxe seat belts and optional factory
air conditioning, installed on fewer than 1% of all 1957 Mercurys.
Powered by a 368ci V8 engine backed by a 3-speed automatic
transmission, this pace car is an eight-time national award-winner,
including International Mercury Owners Association Best in Show,
Hilton Head Concours Best of Class, Vintage Weekend Best of Show
and AACA Grand National First and Senior. It was selected by FoMoCo
to return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2004 to pace 50 new
Mercury Marauders for a television commercial.
