This 1954 Chevrolet Corvette C1R custom convertible was buildt by
Eckert's Rod and Custom, completed on June 2, 2021, and later
displayed at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.
Power comes from a custom-built 368ci LT5 V8 engine by Graham Behan
producing over 600hp, one of two engines specially built for
Lingenfelter Racing, paired with a ZF 6-speed manual transmission.
The powertrain includes a stainless-steel fuel tank with in-tank
pump, ceramic-coated headers, 2.5-inch polished seamless
stainless-steel exhaust with polished SuperTrapp mufflers and a
custom aluminum driveline. It rides on an Art Morrison frame
equipped with C4 Corvette front and rear suspension, fully
adjustable coilover shocks, and Baer brakes with two-piece rotors
and Alcon calipers. The custom HRE wheels measure 17x9.5 inches in
front and 17x11 inches in the rear, with custom half-shafts, new
U-joints, hub bearings and heat-treated 3.73 gear set. Additional
systems include a power rack & pinion steering assembly with a
Flaming River column and new Corvette steering wheel, custom-built
radiator, oil cooler and power steering cooler. The handcrafted
interior features high-quality leather upholstery and a Dakota
Digital HDX gauge system custom made for this Corvette.
Documentation includes the LT5 wiring diagram and full build
records, and this vehicle retains its authentic 1954 Corvette
designation.
