Restored by the team at Porsche Louisville as an entry in the 2022
Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge, this 1982 Porsche 911 SC
earned both the Regional People's Choice Award and the National
People's Choice Award, the latter judged at the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway during the Sportscar Together event over Labor Day
weekend. This Porsche is powered by a 172hp air-cooled 3.0-liter
flat-6 aluminum engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, paired
with a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The 1982
Porsche 911 SC represented a pivotal moment in Porsche history.
Produced between 1978 and 1983, the SC (short for Super Carrera)
was initially intended to mark the end of the 911 in favor of the
928, but strong sales extended the lineage beyond 1983. This
particular example was originally sold by Jim Haynes, now Dealer
Principal of Porsche Louisville, before his dealership had its own
Porsche franchise. Haynes personally acquired the car on behalf of
the original owner, Dr. Goddy, who drove it for over three decades
across Kentucky and Indiana, often referring to it as his "Little
Black Car." This over-the-top, no-expense-spared project includes
documented restoration receipts from Blue Grass Automotive totaling
$515,683 and comes with a bound coffee-table picture book
highlighting the restoration journey. Included is thumb drive
summarizing the entire process. Also is a letter from Porsche North
America with the Porsche Production Specifications and optional
equipment.
