This Raven Black 1968 Shelby GT500, Shelby No. 00889, is an
authentic Texas barn find, a survivor elevated to concours
standards by renowned Legacy Speed & Body in Strathmore, Alberta,
Canada. One of only 1,044 produced in 1968, this GT500 is powered
by a date-code-correct 428ci Police Interceptor engine, paired with
a 4-speed manual transmission (converted by the selling dealership
in 1968). This GT500 retains all its original sheet metal. The
engine features date-coded components consistent with its
production sequence, as verified by the included Marti Report.
While not VIN-stamped, the engine's casting dates align with the
car's build timeline. During restoration, the original Build Sheet
was discovered beneath the dashboard, adding to an already
exceptional provenance package that includes the original Ford
Motor Company invoice, original Shelby American invoice, VIN plate,
Shelby Tag and Buck Tag. The concours restoration preserved every
original metal panel, with the body fully disassembled, refinished
and reassembled using factory-correct fasteners, finishes and
materials. Every line, gap and surface reflects meticulous
craftsmanship and an uncompromising commitment to authenticity.
Documentation includes the Marti Report, original invoices, Build
Sheet, factory identification tags and 1968 Texas license plate.
This GT500 is also listed in the Shelby Registry.
