Offering for the first time for sale is my beautiful Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with 442 option package. I do not have a broadcast or build sheet but car has all the other indicators that this is in fact a true 442. Evidence includes original window sticker listing the L78 4-4-2 performance package. The cowl tag has the correct 5VY code on the 5th line. The heads are the correct C-type head and the stamping is clearly visable. The block casting number is 390925E which is correct for a 1967 400 CID. This car also has factory boxed rear trailing arms and has a rear sway bar as well. The trim work has the correct black out. The front grill is the correct 442 style which is different from the Cutlass in fit and mounting.
This car has had many improvement and maintenance items addressed. New RWL tires, 4 new HD shocks, new 2.5 inch SS exhaust with correct pencil tips. I installed a new Cold Case HD aluminum radiator so she cruises nicely at 180 degrees. All new radiator and heater hoses installed. New water, oil pressure gauge as well as a new floor mounted tachometer.
Mechanically, this care is very good. Engine runs very well. Smooth idle, no smoke, pulls hard and no knocking. Trans shifts smoothly. Neutral spring still working. No grinding between gears. Don’t know age of clutch but the is no chatter or shimmy . Car has the rally clock that does not work and the interior turn signal dash lights don’t illuminate but the exterior work. Car does not have power steering so there are no flat spots and car does not wander, it’s nice and firm. No power brakes. Four-wheel drum that lack for nothing. Car stops amazingly well.
The body is in excellent shape. Laser straight, no dings, dents or rust. Vinyl top is perfect. Side trin is dent free, complete and perfect. Tail panel has some very minor checking but is in very good shape. Front grill work has a little pitting but generally not noticeable. Tail light bezels brand new and perfect. Paint is very good but not perfect. 3 minor flaws overall. Nice gloss and overall shows very well. Side pinstripes are tape not hand painted.
Interior is also very good. Seats have no tears or holes. Door cards are very good. New arm rest bases installed. Headliner is perfect. Dash pad and instrument cluster bezel are good but show some signs of refurbishment. Carpet complete but not the best. I and including a new carpet set with purchase uninstalled. Car has new 442 logo black floor mats which show very nicely.
Car has some documentation of ownership and service records but not by any means complete. There are several expired vehicle registrations that led me to believe the car’s current mileage of 105802 is correct. I have a clean Texas title. I have 4 muscle cars and the wife says that’s too many. Have to get rid of one. Preferably the 442 but…..
