1966 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE CONVERTIBLE SS 396 138 VIN, 4-SPEED
EXTERIOR: The body is absolutely straight. I don't see any rust or
damage. The gaps are nice, the doors shut like new. The blue is
very vibrant and really grabs your attention. The power white
convertible top really pops up against the dark blue exterior.
Looking down both sides it is straight. All of the chrome was
replaced: the bumpers, mirrors, door handles and vent window
frames. The taillight bezels, wheel well moldings, rocker moldings
were all replaced. The glass is in good shape. Weather strips and
window seals were replaced. It rolls on a set 15x7 Rally wheels
with new trim rings and center caps BF Goodrich redline radial
tires. INTERIOR: The white interior stands out against the blue
exterior. It has bucket seats with a factory console with a Hurst
shifter coming out of it. The metal dash has been restored with all
new trim. It still retains its original AM radio that works!! The
dash is painted in a satin black finish, the door panels, window
cranks and arm rest are in great shape, heater controls and vents
slide with ease. It has a factory 2 spoke style wood wheel.
Interior lights work as they should. It also features factory GM
front and rear seat belts. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood is a
period correct 396ci/ 325hp with a few performance upgrades: HEI
ignition, factory Winters aluminum 4 barrel intake manifold,
upgraded cadmium plated brake booster with dual master cylinder, 4
core radiator and still retains its factory exhaust manifolds.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk is all clean metal with a light coat
of spatter paint. It has a trunk mat, spare tire and jack. It also
features new trunk weather stripping. UNDERSIDE: The body was off
the frame. The floors are solid, they were prepped and undercoated.
The frame was stripped and powder coated. The front end has been
completely taken apart and rebuilt. All the bushings, ball joints,
springs, shocks, steering components have been replaced. In the
rear springs and shocks were replaced. It has a Flowmaster dual
exhaust system. The tail pipes are neatly tucked up in the quarter
panels with turned down tips. The fuel system has been replaced
including the tank, straps and sending unit. The brakes have gone
through. Upgraded with front disc brake lines and hoses were
replaced. Looking up at the motor it is clean as well as the Muncie
M20 manual transmission. A rebuilt drive shaft leads to a 12 bolt
rear with 3:55 posi. This is one neat Chevelle SS Convertible with
