Cadillac made the Eldorado its own series in 1973, and by 1974
found sales soaring with their newly redesigned model! To meet
Federal 5mph bumper requirements, the rear bumper was new for 1974
and featured horizontal taillights underneath the trunk lid. It
would be the last year to feature round headlights up front
surrounded by a fine mesh grill with the 'Cadillac' script
discreetly shown to the right of the hood trim, as well as feature
rear fender skirts providing that classic long and low styling
characteristic. Inside the cabin, a "space age" instrumentation
display added an upper tier with special warning lights, fuel
gauge, and quartz digital clock. Today, the 1974 Eldorado is
arguably one of the most beautiful of the ninth generation and
highly prized when found in this condition!
Offered here is a beautifully survived 1974 Cadillac Eldorado
Convertible finished in its factory applied Dynasty Red paint with
white pinstripe, original White convertible soft top, and White
leather interior with Medium Red dash and carpets! Under the hood
resides its number's matching 500ci V8 engine with Turbo-Hydramatic
3-speed automatic transmission! Options and features include
climate-controlled air conditioning, power windows & locks, power
6-way dual comfort seats, AM/FM/8-track audio system with power
antenna, remote mirrors, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, Sentinel
lights, American Classic wide whitewall radial tires, passenger
vanity mirror, removable trash bin, carpeted floor mats, rear trunk
rubber cargo mat, and spare tire cover.
This wonderfully cared for Eldorado Convertible spent its early
years in Florida with the first two owners each maintaining
possession for two years. In 1978, it would sell to Brown Brothers
Cadillac in Louisville, Kentucky and stay in their collection until
2010! Their dealership had been in the same location since 1946
with an onsite 3-story building. It was said that they reserved
space on the upper two stories to house their private Cadillac
collection. Each car would reside in a climate-controlled
environment and receive premium care whenever servicing was
necessary. After leaving their collection in 2010, it would join a
collection in New York and not trade hands again until coming to
our museum in June 2021 for the first time. It stayed in a private
St. Louis collection with the most recent owner since.
Contributions to the car mechanically over the past 4 years include
new air conditioning compressor with R134a conversion; all new
front and rear brake components, hoses, and fluid; transmission
flush with filter and pan gasket; radiator flush with new coolant;
new rear differential gear oil; drive belts, engine oil/filter; new
Coker Classic radial whitewalls, front ball joints, & rear coil
springs; new Optima Red Top battery and remanufactured alternator;
along with new windshield wiper blades.
With exception to the driver side front fender having some prior
paint correction when the new front/rear bumper extensions with
installed, the balance of the entire body retains all original
paint! The leather interior and convertible top are also original
and appear in very good to excellent condition! The odometer reads
just 33,625 miles today and it continues to run and operate like a
new car! It is a terrific example that you will be proud to show
and drive! It comes with original owner's manuals, all recent
service records, convertible hard & soft boot covers, and original
spare tire equipment in the trunk. We do advertise our vehicles on
various forums and encourage all prospective buyers to call with
questions or to schedule a chance to review this in person! Thanks
for looking!
