January of 1953 was a special year for the automotive world as the
very first Corvette ever built was shown off at the General Motors
Motorama. These two seater sports cars were notable for their
distinctive styling, performance features and lightweight
fiberglass body. They were very unique in the US market and took
some themes from the British sports car craze. They were well
received by the public and after the first unveiling it was
announced that production was 6 months to a year away. They
generated such a large interest that they began being mass produced
in June 1953. Only 300 of these cars were hand built for 1953, all
of which were a matching Polo White with Red interior. As you can
imagine, these cars are very rare being and almost exclusively
owned by museums and major car collectors. The prospect of owning
one is very slim for most car enthusiasts but don't worry, we have
a solution! This 1953 Corvette is a replica done by Classic Sports
Cars out of Holly Hill, Florida. It has the look of the original
but by not being 1 of the 300 we are able to offer it up at a much
more reasonable price. If you are a fan of automotive history and
Corvettes this might be the only chance you get to own/cruise
around in what is the first ever C1 with some more modern upgrades.
The build was done around 1988 and it has been used as a show car
since racking up only 4,596 miles since completed. It is painted in
the correct Polo White color which has a great finish. That is
combined with a Black convertible top but this is a fair weather
car so the top is rarely up on it. The mounting, folding and
latching mechanisms have been replaced. It has new windshield
rubber and new wiper arms/blades. The chrome grill, bumpers, side
trim, are all correct down to classic features like the mesh
headlight screens. From the exterior there really isn't anything
indicating this didn't roll out of the GM factory. They were sold
as the Model XC-53 which was also referred to as the eXact Copy so
getting the outside look and dimensions right was among the top
goals. The car really does have a great look and sits on original
style Red wheels with 1956-1958 Corvette Wheels covers and new wide
white radial tires.
Since the initial build, the car has been well cared for and
mechanically it has received a bunch of new/rebuilt components. The
motor is a 1973 350V8 motor and is topped off with a rebuilt
Rochester 4 barrel Quadra-Jet carburetor, a chrome air cleaner and
finned Corvette valve covers. The engine runs great and is combined
with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission that sends power back to
the 10 bolt rear end with a 3.08 gear ratio. The car rides on a
custom frame with a 1974 Nova front clip and Nova leaf springs in
rear. Some of the new/rebuilt components include the front discs
brakes (rotors, calipers, pads, hoses, wheel bearings), power brake
master cylinder, front/rear shocks, front sway bar/links/bushings,
parking brake cables, transmission output shaft seal, radiator
hoses, thermostatic radiator fan/shrouds, carburetor choke,
starter, ignition coil, distributor cap/rotor/points, spark
plugs/wires, vacuum lines, fuel lines and more! As you can tell,
the car is road ready so all you need to do is hop in it and go! It
even has power steering in addition to the power brakes so it is a
comfortable car to cruise around in.
The interior is the full replica 1953 Corvette upholstery and done
in the correct Red. It features Red carpet and bucket seats and
through the floor the owner has had a better looking Lokar "Muscle
Car" shifter installed. It moves through the gears smoothly with no
issues. The dash has the original style shape but has been upgraded
with Classic Instrument gauges and a Kenwood stereo. Other recent
interior work includes new seat tracks, new seat belts/anchors, and
a new turn signal/horn mechanism. The trunk of it has Black carpet
and contains a fire extinguisher for safety. It also has the
covered recess for the spare wheel which is where the relocated
battery has been mounted.
If you have ever dreamed of owning the rare first year of Americas
#1 sports car then this is your chance! It won't break the bank and
even better than the originals, you can actually drive and have fun
with it. It comes with a clear Texas title and is titled as a 1953
Chevrolet.
Take this beauty home for $59,000.00!
