Here is an absolutely stunning 1969 Mercedes 280SL in great condition inside and out. This car is a US Spec sold new in the USA in 1969 and features the 2.8L Straight 6 backed by the 4-Speed Manual. This is the rare California Coupe, so called because there was no folding rag top, only the removable Hard Top. The extra space in the back could seat a small child or extra passenger or room for extra bags. It is rare to find these SL's with this kind of low mileage because once you drive this car you won't want to get out. The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint on the car is Finished in Old MB White and is an older color change repaint with some hairline cracks but shines beautifully. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock with ZERO rust or ANY kind of corrosion on top or underneath, and we were told this was a lifelong CA car. The car is riding on gorgeous 14" steel wheels with MB Hubcaps wheels with fresh Michelin tires. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. All glass is original, even the wind shield is original Mercedes German glass. The black soft top is like new with crystal clear plastic windows. The hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape. Overall the exterior appearance of this car is a 8 out of 10.

The interior is in great shape all around. The dash and door panels are in excellent condition. The original Mb Vinyl seats are all in very good condition and look absolutely presentable which shows the quality of material used in this car. The carpets are all very nice and have been professionally cleaned. All dials and controls function as they should. The wood trim looks good, but not fully restored. The OE looking Europa head unit has modern internals and Bluetooth compatibility.

Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The straight 6 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. Many Mercedes experts and mechanics stand behind the 2.8L as the best engine Mercedes ever made. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 90mph. The most recent owner spent thousands working on critical systems, including steering gear box fully resealed as well as a recent full tune up including coils, plugs, wires. The RARE 4-Speed Manual transmission shifts like butter and is seldom seen.
