427 Stroker-Powered Backdraft Racing Roadster 5-Speed
For sale is a stunning 427 Stroker-powered Backdraft Racing
Roadster, built on Chassis #7R07T198265 and showing approximately
9831 miles. This high-performance machine delivers the raw, iconic
roadster experience with modern engineering and reliability. Under
the hood, the powerful 427 Stroker V8 provides immense torque and
an unmistakable sound, paired to a crisp Tremec 5-speed manual
transmission that makes every drive engaging. The 351ci Windsor V8
was bored and stroked to displace 427ci by Smeding Performance in
Rancho Cordova, California. It is equipped with an Edelbrock intake
manifold, a Canton Racing Products oil pan, a high-torque starter,
a Powermaster 100-amp alternator, MSD ignition, Ford Racing valve
covers, ceramic-coated exhaust headers, and an electric cooling
fan. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO-600
five-speed manual transmission that was built by Liberty's Gears
and is said to be equipped with a Liberty's Gears threaded front
cluster bearing support, bronze shifter fork pads, surface-enhanced
hubs and sliders, carbon fiber 2nd-4th gear blocking rings, and an
upgraded shifter linkage. A lightweight flywheel and a McLeod
bellhousing and clutch are noted to be installed along with a
BMW-sourced limited-slip differential with 3.91:1 gears.
The 15? Halibrand-style wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial
T/A white-letter tires. The car is equipped with rack-and-pinion
steering, and the suspension features adjustable coilovers up
front, Bilstein shock absorbers out back, solid monoball bushings
and sway bar links, reinforced rear trailing arm mounts, adjustable
rear camber plates, and larger-diameter sway bars. Braking is
provided by discs at all four corners.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Prism Red with silver
over-the-top stripes. Details include a single roll hoop, a hood
scoop, windshield frame-mounted side mirrors, wind wings, quick
jack bumperettes, a LeMans-style fuel filler cap, and side-exit
exhaust pipes.
The low-back bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, and
G-Force Racing Gear five-point harnesses are fitted for each
occupant. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts AutoMeter
instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 180-mph speedometer,
an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary readouts for
oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage.
Appointments include a sliding driver's seat, a dash-mounted
rearview mirror, and a safety cut-off switch.
A Backdraft Racing tag in the engine bay bears VIN 7R07T198265 and
notes assembly by CA Cobra. A California SB-100 Vehicle Information
Label describes the car as a 2005 Special Construction Cobra
powered by a 1969 Ford 5.8L engine.
The Backdraft chassis offers upgraded handling and a planted feel,
while the classic roadster styling turns heads wherever it goes.
