It's already one of the most storied classics to begin with, so
this 1965 Chevrolet Impala Restomod could easily rest on its
laurels with merely a nice paint job and a solid running condition.
But the builders of this fine ride didn't stop there. Combining its
thorough factory-correctness with some outstanding modifications to
boost both its power and drivability, they transformed this iconic
Chevy into an absolute top-tier street machine. Its ultra-sharp,
precisely-aligned Ermine White exterior combines with staggered
18"/20" American Racing wheels to draw you in right off the bat,
and with an enhanced big block engine lurking beneath the hood,
this ride offers a driving experience very much on a par with its
outstanding appearance.
The red vinyl interior has been configured with the same high
standards on display outside the doors, with comfortable front and
rear bench seating that has been thoroughly refinished and looms
over an expanse of well-fitted carpeting. The attention to detail
in this driving environment is impressive. The instrument panel
still retains a convincingly original look and has been outfitted
with a collection of updated gauges to keep tabs on vital motoring
functions, the headliner is nice and snug, and even the buttons and
control knobs on the dash are in good shape. A modern Pioneer
AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity stands by in the trunk
to attend to your audio requests.
Anyone judging this Impala's performance capabilities based on its
exterior badging is in for a surprise. It may proclaim itself to
have a compact yet capable small block engine, but in reality, this
is the epitome of a true "sleeper". It's wielding bona fide big
block power in the form of a 427 V8 that's been bored out to a full
512 cubic inches and resides in a very clean compartment. Fed by
Edelbrock electronic fuel-injection for optimal adjustability, the
engine is also outfitted with a performance cam that gives it an
appealingly choppy idle without taking things to an extreme, and it
pairs with a 4-speed automatic TH200-4R transmission with an
overdrive gear to keep RPMs in check at highway speeds. With
Wilwood power disc brakes at all four corners, it stops promptly
with little effort, and a Griffin aluminum radiator combines with
dual electric fans to ensure the big block never loses its
cool.
