Few automobiles command attention and admiration like the Auburn
Boattail Speedster, and this 1936 Auburn 852 Speedster replica is
unquestionably one of the most beautiful examples we have ever
offered. Produced by the highly respected Speedster Motorcars
operation, this top-of-the-line factory build has been driven just
6,800 miles since completion and remains in exceptional condition
throughout. With its striking presence, modern reliability, and a
wealth of premium equipment-power steering, power 4-wheel disc
brakes, air conditioning, and a fuel-injected Vortec V8-this car
represents a rare opportunity to own a stunning Art-Deco-era icon
without the limitations of pre-war engineering. Act
quickly-high-quality Auburn Speedsters like this rarely stay on the
market long.
The Auburn Boattail Speedster is widely considered one of the most
breathtaking automotive designs ever produced. Born from the height
of Art-Deco styling and credited to legendary designer Gordon
Buehrig, original 851/852 Speedsters were produced in extremely
limited numbers before Auburn ceased operations. Their rarity and
beauty quickly elevated them to the pinnacle of classic car
collecting, inspiring dedicated manufacturers to create
high-quality replicas for enthusiasts. Among the most respected of
these builders was Antique Autos of America-later Speedster
Motorcars-an esteemed Florida-based facility known for crafting the
finest Auburn and Cord recreations under the guiding hand of
Project Manager Michael Atkins.
Speedster Motorcars completed this particularly striking example in
2004, finishing it in an elegant combination of Candyapple Red
Metallic and Pearl White, paired with a Dark Red and White interior
and a matching Red canvas convertible top. Beneath the sweeping
bodylines lies a brand-new Vortec 5.3L fuel-injected V8 mated to a
4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear end,
delivering smooth, dependable power. The chassis features
adjustable coil-over independent front suspension with tubular
control arms, stainless brake lines, and power 4-wheel disc brakes
for confident modern driving.
This Speedster is extensively equipped with premium factory
features, including staggered 15" wire wheels with wide whitewall
radials, air conditioning, power steering, power windows, power
seat, billet pedals and vents, polished tilt steering column,
machine-turned dash, Stewart-Warner gauges, a Lokar shifter, cowl
lights with integrated side mirrors, fog lights, simulated exhaust
ducting, hood ornament, Ziebart clear paint-protection film, and
dual exhaust with turndown tips. Safety features include turn
signals and an emergency handbrake. A matching canvas tonneau cover
accompanies the convertible top for added protection and show
presentation.
Driven just 6,800 miles, this 1936 Auburn Boattail Speedster
replica remains in beautiful cosmetic and mechanical condition,
with all interior and exterior touch points showing only minimal
signs of gentle use. It is titled as a 1936 Auburn Boattail
Speedster, ensuring smooth registration with the DMV. Whether
enjoyed on long open-road adventures or displayed proudly at shows,
this Speedster offers the perfect blend of classic glamour and
modern drivability. It is guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes
and represents a strong, enjoyable, and highly reliable classic-car
investment.
