The first North American Specification Plus 8. A one Owner wide
all-alloy body, long-door bespoke example. Ordered by a Land Rover
professional who assisted Morgan in EPA certifying the new Plus 8.
Finished in Royal Ivory over Deep Red Connolly Autolux leather
upholstery with black piping and black Wilton wood carpeting piped
in the same deep red Connolly Autolux. Now showing just 18,xxx
miles from new car delivery. The first Plus 8 to be delivered new
through dealer channels without a propane tank since the early
1970s, this very special Morgan has been prized by its original
owner since he ordered it from the factory in late 1997 for 1998
delivery. Unusual among even these special automobiles, this Morgan
is an all-alloy, long-door (nearly an inch longer than standard)
and wide body (1 1/2) with 3 more legroom and pedals moved 1.5
towards the bulkhead. It also features the early and most desirable
9.351 compression Rover 4 Liter V-8 engine with a different
camshaft profile only found on the first 100 cars built by Morgan
this is couple to the silk smooth shifting Rover R380 5-speed
manual transmission. Morgan 16 Centrelock light alloy wheels are
also a rear discovery and preferred by company founder Peter Morgan
on his own cars these are considerably lighter than the more
commonly seen chrome wires. A lengthy list of John Worrell, Melvyn
Rutter and Morgan Motor Company accessories in stainless steel
continue to set this car apart from standard order cars this
includes the stainless badge bar complete with event badges,
luggage rack with leather straps. stainless windscreen hardware,
bonnet catches and handles, and much more. The car has been
regularly and faithfully serviced by legacy shop owner Morgan
Fuller, formerly the lead technician at the East Coast Importer
Cantab Motors. The car was most recently at Fullers approximately
three years ago for a major service and checking over and since
that time has traveled fewer than 200 miles. It is further
accompanied by its original, Peter Morgan signed build book, a
folder of receipts, cancelled registrations and license plates two
spare Centrelock alloy wheels and balancing spacers, a small
collection of removed original parts and a German-made car cover.
Ready for the next motoring adventure or just for a spin around
town, the Morgan offers reliability from its modern powertrain,
fully electronic SAGEM engine management system and smooth shifting
5-speed along with classic styling reminiscent of the same
hand-built cars from Malvern Link that have been built for
generations.
