This Jaguar XKE Fixed Head Coupe knows how to make an entrance as
it has received a ton of attention since it graced our showroom
floor just a few days ago. Not a person has walked in without
taking a moment to walk over to the car and admire its beauty.
This 1967 Jaguar XKE, "E-Type", Series I Fixed Head Coupe comes to
us as part of a private collection since 2014. It is presented here
in Carman Red exterior paint over its Black original, yes original,
leather interior. Power comes from its 4.2 liter dual overhead cam
engine fed by triple SU carbs, upgraded 5-speed manual transmission
and rear wheel drive. The odometer reads 43903 miles and the miles
are said and believed to be original.
Acquired as a running and driving highly original example in 2014
by the current owner, the car was thoughtfully evaluated with the
intent to bring the car to a very high standard with a large focus
on mechanical fitness, drivability, originality and overall
physical presentation. The original 4.2 liter engine was removed
and sent to renowned Jaguar engine builder Bill Terry of TT
Engines, Benton Illinois. There, the motor was completely rebuilt,
balanced, blue printed, polished, detailed, re-assembled, dyno'd,
and tuned to the highest standard. During this process, the front
subframe was removed and fully refurbished, the rear suspension and
transaxle assembly cage was removed and brought to Muncie Jaguar
Restoration specialists for a full rebuild with fully refurbished
and new compontry throughout. Other highlights include all new
suspension including new torsion bars, Wilwood disc brakes all
around, a new Tremec 5 speed gearbox, aluminum radiator, new Bell
big flow exhaust system etc.
Cosmetically, the car presents wonderfully in all areas. Most
notably is the original interior that remains intact with supple
original leather seats, original carpet, dash, gauges, original
wood wheel, trim and bright work. It bears witness to the fact that
the car has never been resurrected from the dead and has remained a
complete example since the car was purchased new. The original
chrome and stainless have been polished as needed and the original
wire wheels remain excellent. The Carman Red exterior paint is
excellent. It lays flat and shows deep, glossy and free from any
major defects. Excellent for its age. Under the hood is
Jewelry.
This 1967 Jaguar E-Type FHC, is hands down, the best driving and
performing E-type that I have been involved with in my 35 years of
being in the industry. The initial start up is effortless and
settles into a perfect idle. The power delivery is strong and
consistent, the suspension, brakes and steering work together to
provide confidence.
The Series I E-Type Jaguars dominated the sports car industry with
its high performance and amazing style. It is considered one of the
most beautifully designed sports cars of all time. It remains one
of only 6 vehicles displayed at the New York Museum of Modern Art
to be recognized for its styling. The car here is quite amazing in
all areas. The restoration and refurbishment has been recorded and
documented with receipts, before and after photos, commentary, spec
sheets and a full dyno read out with the engine build. These have
all been chronologically organized and easily navigated. If you are
in the market for a highly regarded sports car that can be enjoyed
in the garage, on the road and in your investment portfolio, then
this car is a must consider.
