1979 Pontiac Trans Am - 10th Anniversary Edition (Y89), 4-Speed
Manual A True Collector's Time Capsule Now available in our
McDonald, PA showroom is an incredible 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th
Anniversary Edition, one of the most desirable second-generation
Trans Ams ever produced. This exceptionally preserved, low-mileage
example features the highly sought-after Pontiac W72 400ci V8
paired with the 4-speed manual transmission, making it one of only
1,817 produced in this configuration. This Trans Am is magnificent
in every way. The paint, interior, and exterior amenities remain in
excellent, nearly new condition, clearly a car that has been
cherished since day one. A Landmark Anniversary Edition Known by
its option code Y89, the Tenth Anniversary Trans Am represented a
high point for Pontiac. Limited to 7,500 units, it became the first
Firebird to exceed a $10,000 sticker price, with every example
fully loaded with comfort and convenience features. This special
model was also selected as the Official Pace Car of the 1979
Daytona 500, the first NASCAR race broadcast nationally.
Distinctive Exterior The Anniversary Edition is instantly
recognizable with its exclusive and dramatic appearance: - Two-tone
Platinum Silver Metallic and Dark Charcoal paint - The largest
"hood bird" decal ever fitted to a factory Trans Am, with wings -
stretching over the fenders - Red and black accent pinstriping -
Special Turbo-style aluminum wheels - Standard removable T-Tops
Luxury Interior Inside, this Trans Am delivers a level of
refinement rarely seen in Pontiac's performance lineup: - Unique
silver leather seating, the first real leather ever offered in a
Trans Am - Loaded with premium options including: - Power windows -
Power door locks - Air conditioning - Power trunk release Rare
400ci 4-Speed Powertrain The W72 400ci Pontiac V8 had been
discontinued after 1978, but Pontiac reserved a final limited batch
specifically for Anniversary Edition cars equipped with the 4-speed
manual transmission. This makes surviving examples, especially in
this condition, exceptionally collectible and increasingly hard to
find. Collector-Grade Quality This Trans Am is not just another
late-70s muscle car. It is a well-preserved, highly documented,
investment-grade piece of American automotive history. With
original paint, iconic styling, and a clean history, it stands out
as one of the finest examples available today. We strongly
recommend and welcome personal or professional inspections prior to
purchase. A 5% deposit is required to hold the vehicle. Upon
receipt, we will reserve the vehicle for seven (7) days pending
final payment. If you'd like a shorter version for Facebook or a
more aggressive sales tone, I can create that too.
