Description:
This 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone two-door hardtop was sold new at
O'Neil Lincoln-Mercury of Knoxville, Tennessee, and it was
specified in red with a black top and interior along with a 289ci
V8 paired to a four-speed manual transmission. The interior is
fitted with bucket seats, a center console, Rally Pac
instrumentation, and a push-button AM radio, and additional
equipment includes a Holley carburetor, headers, a Monte Carlo bar,
a front sway bar, Monroe Max-Air rear shocks, four-wheel drum
brakes, and 14? steel wheels with polished stainless-steel
covers.
Interior:
The cabin houses front bucket and rear bench seats upholstered in
black vinyl. Black carpeting overlays the floors, and interior
appointments include a center console with a storage compartment as
well as quarter-vent windows, front lap belts, and a push-button AM
radio. The three-spoke woodgrain steering wheel fronts a 140-mph
speedometer flanked by fuel-level, oil-pressure, amperage, and
coolant-temperature gauges, and an optional Rally Pac consisting of
a tachometer, a vacuum gauge, and a clock is mounted atop the black
dashboard.
Exterior:
The body is finished in red with a black vinyl roof, and a
front-end restyle from the previous year featured stacked quad
headlights with a horizontal forward-leaning bar grille.
Black-painted 14? steel wheels wearing polished stainless-steel
covers are mounted with 205/75 Milestar Touring SLE whitewall tires
with 2019 production date codes. Independent front suspension
consists of upper and lower control arms, coil springs, and a front
sway bar, and a welded-in export brace and a Monte Carlo bar have
been fitted.
Drivetrain:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual
transmission and an 8? rear axle. The 289ci V8 top topped by a
Holley four-barrel carburetor, and long-tube headers flow into a
dual exhaust system equipped with Xlerator Big Max Turbo mufflers
from AP Emissions Technologies.
