Few muscle cars command as much recognition and notoriety as the
Chevelle. One look at this 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Tribute
Restomod, and it's easy to see why this car has left an indelible
mark on enthusiasts worldwide, despite being out of production
since 1977. Fully repainted in a head-turning bright red
complemented by a set of full-length white painted SS stripes to go
along with its pinned cowl-induction hood, this Tribute shows off
the aggressive lines of the Chevelle from any angle.
Inside, we find a clean, redone black vinyl interior. A custom
center console complete with dual cupholders separates a pair of
supportive Procar bucket seats. A small power-assisted, three-spoke
steering wheel sits just ahead of a six-pod Equus gauge cluster
mounted on a custom 3D-printed dashboard, featuring an 8,000-rpm
tachometer and a 120-mph speedometer. Gone is the old-school AM
radio, and in its place is a modern Pioneer AM/FM touchscreen that
offers SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. At the
same time, a chrome cueball shifter with the easy-to-see shift
pattern really provides all the entertainment necessary for any
long drive.
Under the hood, we find a clean engine bay with a massive 468
cubic-inch V-8 engine on display. This bored-over big block sports
lightweight AFR aluminum heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, a
Lunati cam, Holley Sniper EFI, Hedman long tube headers, and
high-flow FlowMaster catalytic converters to help this juiced-up
rat motor pump out 600 horsepower. That massive power is routed
through a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission before being
sent to a 3.55-geared Posi rear end, which translates those ponies
to the pavement via a set of 18-inch American Racing wheels.
