"Year after year, more North Americans choose Cadillac's inimitable
Deville than any other luxury car. And with Deville's full size six
passenger comfort, the authority of a 200 horsepower V8 and the
confidence of anti lock brakes and standard Traction Control, it's
easy to see why. For 1995, a re-engineered and relocated exhaust
system and enhancements to the car's body structure contribute to
the quietest ride in Deville history." From the 1995 sales
brochure.
For consignment, a 1995 Cadillac Sedan Deville with a title
verified 73,251 actual miles. Other than size and overall style,
it's hard to believe this car is 30 years old. It has been well
preserved and its triple black configuration is off the charts
classy!
Exterior
Springsteen sang, "Cadillac, Cadillac, long and dark, shiny and
black" and although that was 15 years before this '95 showed up, it
still applies as Cadillacs were renowned, until recently, as having
some big cars. This example has an enormous presence and we're not
just talking about dimensions. Spectacular two stage black paint is
sharply contrasted by the bright body side molding that runs end to
end, breaking only for the 15-inch chrome wheels. Up front,
composite headlights sit flush outside of a prominent eggcrate
grille while in back, black remains king with the exception of the
thing, vertical tail lights, chrome topped bumper, and sizable
reverse lights. The mock convertible canvas top is stunning and
houses a sunroof and a gold Cadillac crest on the C-pillars.
Imperfections are limited to some chin scrapes, bumper taps, and
scuffs on the bumper.
Interior
Soft black surfaces on the doors are accented with glossy woodgrain
insert trim as the header and the black grain is a fantastic blend
for the palette. Along with switchgear and courtesy lights, all
four doors present in excellent condition and open up to a 70/30
black leather bench seat in front, soft and subtle and showing some
minimal patina on the driver's side with compression and wrinkles
while passenger and rear bench show nicely and center armrests are
provided front and rear. The band of wood continues almost
seamlessly across the wide dashboard where greenlit digital
readouts fill a black screen in front the steering wheel and
continue on the Delco radio, framed in woodgrain, and embedded in
the center. The charcoal carpet is plush and toes deep and there's
plenty of it for rear passengers as well. Our headliner and
overhead console are just about showroom condition and the trunk
will fit just about anything you can throw at it, and hold it in
its gray cloth paneled and clean environment.
Drivetrain
The flat floors inside are made possible by the transverse 4.9
liter V8 under the hood, putting out 200 horsepower via fuel
injection and keeping power up front through a 4T60E 4-speed
automatic and 2.73 gears. The bay presents cleanly.
Undercarriage
Driver quality conditions are found underneath with surface rust
prevailing on metal surfaces but mostly dry conditions with only
residual oil on the pan. A single exhaust travels the length of the
car and through an original muffler, then terminating out of sight
behind the rear bumper. Power disc brakes are on all four wheels
and independent suspension with electronic leveling is the
configuration equipped here.
Drive-Ability
This luxury cruiser does not disappoint in the comfort department
and the ride exhibited is appropriately floaty. There's plenty of
elbow room in here and lots of big windows, yet to pilot the land
yacht takes very little effort and the V8 remains responsive. We
note the service ride control light is illuminated on the dash and
all functional items available work as intended and we point the
hood ornament towards the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents
that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
This car wears classic license plates and we agree, this well
preserved example is a qualified show car and not just for Radwood.
The era of big Cadillacs is long past, and this bastion of the
brand is one of the last holdouts and a fantastic representative,
especially in triple black.
