As with its predecessors, the third generation Ford Thunderbird was sold for only three model years (1961 to 1963) and maintained the successful sales of the nameplate. As before, the car was built in both coupe and convertible body styles and offered with numerous luxury features and options. Power was offered by a 390ci V8 which, in 1962, became available with three two-barrel carburetors, sold as the 'M-Code' V8. Offering a conservatively rated 340hp instead of the standard car's 300hp, 'M-Code' Thunderbirds were genuine performance cars of the era. 'M-Code' equipped cars also featured chrome valve covers featuring raised 'Thunderbird' lettering along with most of the rest of the engine components dressed in chrome.

Also in 1962 was the introduction of the Sports Roadster. Offered in limited production to appease buyers who wished for a two seat car like the original Thunderbird, the Sports Roadster was distinguished by its removable fiberglass tonneau cover (which hid the rear seats from view), standard Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, special badging, and passenger side grab bar. 1,427 were built in 1962, of which only 120 were ordered with the 'M-Code' V8. Naturally, their rarity has led to some modifying their standard convertibles to Sports Roadster specification, making genuine Sports Roadsters even more valuable.

The magnificent 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster featured here is finished in stunning Raven Black over a Black interior with a matching power convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has been beautifully restored and is now ready to be shown or driven. This investment-grade Thunderbird is factory equipped with a high-performance 'M-Code' tri-power V8; one of only 120 Sports Roadsters so equipped, making this the perfect example to add to any premier collection. Because of this Thunderbird's condition and rarity, I personally the investment potential of this iconic model will grow beyond your imagination! Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
