This 1967 Chevrolet Camaro drop-top convertible is the recipient of an extensive cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment and is powered by a 454/468ci V8 4-bolt main mated to a 700R4 automatic with overdrive and a 9" positraction rear end. While some of the photos indicate the SS trim, this car is a SS Clone Restomod.
The exterior features new sheet metal covered with custom flame red paint (Chrysler PR4) and dual satin black stripes, a new chin spoiler, a mini-tubbed rear end, 15" Vision wheels wrapped in staggered-width BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and a new functional convertible top with rear windows.
A black interior is furnished with new carpeting and padding, vinyl seats, new seat belts, door panels, door hardware and more. Other specifics include but are not limited to a Holley Double Pumper carburetor, an aluminum dual-plane intake, new Brodix aluminum heads, Harland roller rockers, Sanderson ceramic headers, stainless exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers, and a custom suspension. This first-generation Camaro is offered with a clear Idaho title in the seller's name. More details are outlined below.
The Chevrolet Camaro debuted as a 1967 model and was available in coupe and convertible body styles. This particular droptop wears custom flame red paint and a pair of black stripes down the center. The custom painted firewall was in place when I acquired it. The windshield wiper motor was removed to allow for the larger valve covers. The wiper motor is still in my possession and will be included, but I opted to remove it as it is not needed as we do not drive it in the rain. A custom painted aluminum hole cover was added in its place.
The front end features round headlights and a black grille set above a chrome bumper and new front chin spoiler. Brightwork lines the fenders, which arch over 15"X7" Vision Wheels wearing 215/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires in the front and a pair of 15"X8" wheels wrapped in 255/60 rubber in the mini-tubbed rear. Handling is managed by disc brakes with slotted and drilled rotors and a new Saginaw style power steering pump.
When stored, the new convertible top with rear window is protected by a new black boot and a new spoiler tops the trunk lid. A chrome rear bumper spans the width of the vehicle's rear end below a pair of chrome-framed horizontal taillights and above new dual 3" stainless steel exhaust tips.
The interior was updated in 2021 by the prior owner and consists of a new wiring kit, floors, padding, carpet, custom floor mats, black vinyl seats with new springs, foam, new seat belts, door panels and armrests, and a removable center console. Other items include Blue LED ambient lighting, a new rearview mirror, a custom 3-spoke wood steering wheel fitted to an “I Did It” tilt steering column. The car is also equipped with new switches, a brand new $3,800 period correct Bluetooth Custom Autosound USA-740 am/FM digital tuner, Bluetooth, built in USB, two aux inputs and hands free mic, 5 brand new Yamaha speakers and a trunk-mounted Alpine amplifier and a Vintage Air heater/defroster system.
Instrumentation comes in the form of a bank of Dolphin gauges with readouts for speed, revs, fuel, and more. There is a hidden fuel cut-off (anti-theft) system inside the car.
The cowl hood covers a solid-lifter cam 454/468cid V8 equipped with an aluminum dual-plane intake, 4-bolt main, new Brodix Race-Rite (BRO-2061000) 119cc Chamber / 270cc Intake Runner Big Block Cylinder Heads, new Harland Sharp S2001 Roller Rockers, new Powermaster PowerMax 9200 starter, new aluminum valve covers, new Fel Pro head gaskets, new TuffStuff 6176A Chrome Saginaw Power Steering Pump, a 750-cfm Holley Double Pumper 4-barrel carburetor with a Holley aluminum air cleaner and Holley heat shield. The engine and drivetrain has been enhanced by a new accelerator pump, linkage, a new Borgeson steering system, and an entirely new fuel system which was replaced in 2024 and included a new tank, fuel lines, Holley electric fuel pump, and Holley fuel filter. Should you want to convert the car to EFI, only an O2 sensor would be needed. The engine breathes through a set of Sanderson ceramic-coated headers with crossover pipe, MagnaFlow mufflers, and 3" stainless steel exhaust finishers. New auxiliary hardware includes the power steering pump and cooler, 100-amp alternator, and water pump pulley. A 700R4 automatic with overdrive and stall converter paired with a B&M shifter helps put the big block's power to the road. A new X2 Power battery with 880 cranking amps was installed in 2024 as well.
Up front is a 1.125" sway bar, tubular A-arms, and cast aluminum transmission pan, while a 9" positraction rear end with 3.90:1 gears is in the rear. Suspension features include a custom ladder bar setup, coil-overs at all four corners, and Global West subframe connectors. A light application of black rubberized coating has been applied to the leading edges of the steering linkage and some other areas as well as Techflex Fire Fiberglass Braided cable sleeving for added heat protection.
The car has only been driven on warm, dry days and is always covered and stored in a climate-controlled garage.
As the seller of this 1967 Camaro Convertible I wish to share some information about this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle in 2022 after the prior owner completed the majority of the restoration. The car was shipped to the prior owner here in Idaho in an enclosed container truck. When I acquired it, this Camaro had already had all the body work done, it was painted in the shown red with black stripes and the engine and transmission were in iand running great. The changes I have made were to augment the work that was done and improve performance in a few areas. The new top and the new interior were also in place. The suspension work was in place along with most everything you can see. I can only reflect what I was told about all of that history and happy to share all that I know with you if you have any questions. The third member was recently replaced when I purchased the car in 2022 with a new Speedway (built in house), 9” 3:90 posi-traction. It only had three short runs as per the 500 mile break in period and I personally ensured that the remaining break in period was completed. Following that the differential drain and service was completed at Restoration Rods in Boise, ID.
While the car was initially built (based on my understanding) as a track car in Florida, we do not race it or race others with it. This is small thing yet I want to be able to mention these things so anyone can ask about that or other questions. I might not be able to answer every question in detail but I will respond to every question. We have won two awards with it in local car shows and the prior owner had won awards with it as well
I am selling the car as I have two children in college and one more to start in two years after he returns home from a church mission and only drive the car occasionally during nice weather and will likely acquire another car after life changes again for us.
Please reach out with any questions.
