"Grace, Space, Pace" - Jaguar's advertising slogan for many decades
after it first appeared in the 1950s. Jaguar's iconic emblem and
former hood ornament is known as The Leaper. The face on chrome
embossed emblem is known as The Grinner. Jaguar has won the 24
Hours of LeMans, the world's oldest sports car endurance race,
seven times. The first time in 1951 and the last time in 1990.
Regardless of all the facts, the most fascinating thing about
Jaguars is driving one.
For consignment, a 2007 Jaguar XK8 convertible with a title
verified 47,279 actual miles. Some in the classic car world will
tell you these XK's represent one of the best luxury bargains in
the market and as a result, they always find a new home when listed
at Classic Auto Mall.
Exterior
With its rounded aerodynamic looks, integrated head and tail
lights, and an oval grille reminiscent of the XKE series, this car
presents with Winter Gold Metallic. Where chrome once denoted
elegance, we now have modern urethane bumpers, rounded and smooth.
The wrap around tail lights come to a point on the side, matching
the corner of the front lenses. A fender duct suggests sportiness
as does the subtle wing on the decklid and sizable exhaust tips. A
handsome car with top up or down, the tan canvas top hovers over
narrow side windows and a steeply raked windshield, while providing
a glass window of its own which we note is detaching from the
canvas frame. 19-inch wheels carry staggered size tires for
improved handling and each comes with a 2020 date code. Some chin
scuffs, curb rash, a random scratch, and a few stains on the canvas
are the only exterior imperfections on this sporty cat.
Interior
Caramel colored leather in good condition adorns the interior
seating consisting of front buckets and a very tight 2+2 rear.
Fronting these is a burlwood dash surrounding a smart instrument
cluster and the center stack where we find the neatly arranged
screen with navigation and an AM/FM/Cassette/CD along with the A/C
panel. The car is also equipped to the hilt with cruise control,
power seats with 3 memory positions on the matching leather and
stitched door, power mirrors, power windows and power locks. A
console mounted shift has a matching leather and burlwood handle.
Plush tan carpeting for the floors is clean and protected by
weather mats while the boot is decked in with black carpet and
rails over the spare cover for ease of sliding in your Louis
Vuitton luggage or gold bars.
Drivetrain
Clad in clean, plastic panels, we find a 4.2 Liter DOHC V8 which
puts out a respectable 295 horsepower and is mated to a 6-speed ZF
automatic transmission. It has EFI and a 3.06 rear axle. Naturally,
four wheel power disc brakes are standard.
Undercarriage
Spots of typical surface rust but overall a very clean and dare we
say, attractive underside, what with all the heat shields, aluminum
panels, and shiny exhaust. It's dual here, traveling in tandem down
a center tunnel, meeting a large, original muffler before exiting
to the atmosphere via two chrome tips split wide on the valance.
Double wishbone suspension is found front and rear of the fully
independent system.
Drive-Ability
The warm and inviting interior is complemented by a nice sounding
and well running V8. Some squeaks support the consignor's
information about the need for new bushings, but the car still
handles like a sports car and the nearly 300 horses under the hood
push it eagerly forward. Also from the consignor, we note a CATS
light on the dash and this is a suspension sensor code and will not
result in inspection failure. Meanwhile, all functional items
operate as intended on this handsome Jag. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
It's British, it's topless, i's powerful and no, we're not talking
about Sienna Miller! We're talking about this low mileage and very
clean 2007 XK8. Sure, it'll impress onlookers but buy it because
you love it. This is one you will turn around to stare at after
you've parked it. And during the honeymoon phase, we expect you'll
be spending more time in the garage to watch it rest. We
understand, and await your call.
