"The 1951 Mercury is more than just another classic car; it is a
rolling piece of Americana that captures the spirit of its age-a
time of boundless optimism and forward-looking design. With its
distinctive styling cues that continue to influence automotive
aesthetics to this day, robust performance characteristics that
defined an era's motoring experience, and a collector's appeal that
only grows with time, this vehicle remains an enduring icon worthy
of admiration."-metrommp.com
This 1951 Mercury 6-passenger Convertible Coupe featured in a
brilliant Everglade Green metallic exterior finish, a coordinating
two-tone tan interior, tan top with boot cover and is riding on
wide whites. The power for this Mercury is provided by the
legendary 255 cubic inch Flathead V8 motor mated to a 3-speed
manual transmission.
This Mercury convertible was restored over a two-year period in the
early 2000's and has been lightly used since based on the overall
condition of the exterior paint and interior. The Everglade paint
shows very well with only a few minor imperfections. The hood has
been louvered, and the trunk lock shaved to exemplify the hot-rod
culture. The trunk lid is currently being held down by its own
weight although there are some parts provided to install a
popper.
The 255 cubic inch Flathead motor with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor
sitting on top of a Offenhauser manifold comes to a quick start
with the aid of an electric fuel pump and idles smoothly as it
breathes through shorty headers connected to a dual exhaust
system.
The interior of this Mercury shows very well with a two-tone tan
theme on the leather seating and coordinating vinyl door panels.
Additional upgrades for this interior include a floor mounted
3-speed shifter, power windows and an under dash Sunpro temperature
gauge.
The tan Stayfast power top with chrome frame and supports works
properly and stores away neatly with a boot cover, unfortunately
there is a tear in the top as can be seen in the photographs.
When opening the trunk lid you will be welcomed by a neatly
finished interior.
This rare and beautiful Everglade green Mercury 6-passenger
Convertible Coupe would be welcomed in any enthusiast's garage.
