Impossible not to crack a smile when you gaze upon this beautiful
Sunfire Yellow 442 convertible! This 1972 Oldsmobile 442
convertible was purchased March 31st, 1972 at Sutton Oldsmobile in
Sacramento, California by a Miss Teresa A. Powell. Miss Powell
owned this car 31 plus years and it remained in California that
entire time. In the summer of 2016, Thornton muscle cars in
Quakertown, Pennsylvania did a full restoration on this vehicle.
The engine and transmission were completely disassembled and
rebuilt. The body was taken to bare metal and professionally
refinished in the factory-correct color of "56A" Sunfire yellow.
The "977" white interior was fully restored as well (with some of
the original panels being retained and re-dried). This example was
a 41,850 actual-mile example with a numbers-matching drivetrain
when it was chosen for the restoration. The vehicle is equipped
with a Oldsmobile Rocket 350 V8, automatic transmission, factory
air conditioning, push-button AM radio, custom-sport steering
wheel, tilt steering column, power steering, power brakes, power
convertible top, clock, W29 442 appearance and handling package
(featuring the FE2 rally suspension, special striping, grilles and
emblems, etc.) and, this example has bucket seats with a console.
Prior to this current restoration, a previous owner won AACA Senior
Gold in 2007 with this vehicle, confirming that this has always
been a fantastic automobile.
Included with the sale are restoration photographs along with an
article in Muscle Machines magazine, original build sheet, original
Protect-O-Plate, original warranty card, original Oldsmobile
factory letter to Miss Powell along with several of her original
registrations. See attached photograph.
